    People who approve publishing lists of gun owners cry foul over published list of Muslims

    By JAZZ SHAW
    November 28, 2015

    The recent “clock boy” protests in Texas surrounding one local mosque continue to generate controversy and before everyone headed out for Thanksgiving there was another “incident” in the Lone Star State. One spokesperson for BAIR (the Bureau on American Islamic Relations) went on Facebook and published a list of local Muslims and their supporters who opposed a law which would have forbidden Sharia Law (or any other religious court) supplanting civil authority. I first saw this reported at a link from TPM.{http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/david-wright-iii-doxxes-irving-muslims--4}

    The leader of a group of armed anti-Muslim protesters in Texas posted the addresses of dozens of local Muslims and “Muslim sympathizer(s)” to Facebook on Tuesday.

    David Wright III was behind an armed protest Saturday outside of a mosque in Irving, Texas by a group calling itself the “Bureau on American Islamic Relations,” according to The Dallas Morning News.

    Wright prefaced the list of addresses, which appeared to be copied over from a city document, by writing that those named “stood up for Sharia tribunals”

    Predictably, this had the usual collection of folks setting their hair on fire, with dire warnings being issued over the “targeting” of Muslims. (Washington Post) {https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/11/27/man-who-led-armed-protest-at-texas-mosque-publishes-list-of-muslims-home-addresses/?wpmm=1&wpisrc=nl_headlines}

    "This is the first time I've been slightly alarmed," Alia Salem, executive director of CAIR's Dallas/Fort Worth branch, told the Dallas Morning News(http://irvingblog.dallasnews.com/20...-mosque-publishes-muslims-home-addresses.html) after the list was published. "As bad as things have gotten in the past, and especially recently, this is the first time where I see people taking this public."

    Referring to those who spoke at the city council meeting, Salem said: "This is my job to deal with this kind of stuff. But for an everyday citizen who was just exerting their First Amendment rights and their right as an American to speak up and speak out, they were just being good citizens to show up and be a part of the democratic process. Now they are targets."

    This has become a running question in the internet age and it involves a lot more than just members of a particular religious group. Public officials of all sorts have had their personal information published in various forums and in newspapers. Just how “private” is that information? If your address is available on all manner of forms and documents, both government and commercial, is that really a secret? At the same time, making it easier for critics (and possibly those who wish to do you harm) to find you raises concerns. As I said… it’s at least a valid topic of debate.

    But with that in mind, some of these same authors haven’t seemed to be quite as concerned when other people’s names and addresses have been published. In fact, sometimes it’s the mainstream media themselves doing it. How upset do you think these same folks were when lists of registered gun owners were
    published in the Journal News of Westchester County, New York
    ?(http://www.csmonitor.com/USA/Justic...ublished-gun-owners-map-sues-county-for-names) In that instance, the liberal opponents of gun rights at the newspaper actually went to court to sue Putnam County when their sheriff refused to turn over the names.

    Where was the editorial board of the Washington Post when that happened? Were they concerned about pistol permit holders being “targets” of crazed anti-gun rights activists? I was unable to find any such protestations on a quick search, though perhaps I missed it.

    There seems to be a lack consistency in the way both the Progressive Liberal Socialist and CAIR react to things of this sort. At the same time, other groups who are not as prized or protected by the mainstream media don’t seem to generate such concern over their privacy. The lack of balance between these two instances is probably proof of all you need. IMO, the same contemptible people say you can’t blame all Muslims for acts committed by a few “radical” Muslims. However, it is fine to blame all gun owners for acts committed by a few crazy loons. That seems a bit hypocritical wouldn't you think? In reality those seemingly few are equal to 350 million.

    If someone did that, published a list with my name on it for owning guns. I would publish a list of non-gun owners

    People actually dox gun owners? Do they realize how counterproductive that is? Criminals got a hold of our club's member list a few years back and we've had several break-ins since. Doxing gun owners will increase thefts and therefore the number of guns on the street.

    Mount your gun safe on rubber blocks and hook 120v to it. It won't kill anyone but they'll know when they touch it.

    There are people who hate muslims and harass them, profile them, or might even kill them. Nobody is threatening gun owners.

    Posting lists of people, either by religion or gun ownership (a completely legal activity) is really inappropriate. Why would someone do that if not to encourage harassment of the people on the lists?

    Sounds like that Arizonian resident who led a similar anti-Muslim protest outside a mosque in Phoenix - or was it Tempe? - and then posted on FB asking for money because he is being "targeted".

    I am reminded of an Advertisement I saw in Survivalist Magazine:

    also,

    Sounds allot like someone attempting to claim official government status, when they are a civilian organization with no authority.

    The Gods Help U.S. if we start giving them the respect of Law Enforcement. They should be told to (*)(*)(*)(*)!

    Was the ad for real or a joke?

    It was an underground, poorly printed, insider distributed, survivalist Peer-to-Peer Barter Enabler Magazine.

    They often had controversial items for sale/barter, such as armor piercing ammo, or full-auto conversion kits (total waste of time, ammo, and firepower!), and police comm interception radios.

    I never saw anything else I believed wasn't a serious ad, but just a joke.

    You don't scam the kind of people who buy from such a magazine... not more than once anyway.

    I have a safe which nobody is getting into unless they drive a truck through the room, or obtain the keys somehow.

    Use your initiative - a gun is like a big block of gold for a thief. Secure it accordingly. Maybe that means you keep it on your person, maybe it means you keep it in your safe, maybe you keep it hidden around the house if you don't have kids. No need for electric shocks, although that sounds very cool. I am tempted!

    I say we shouldn't be publishing lists of either.

    It's your right to own a gun...

    It's your right to be a Muslim...

    It's my right to make a list of Muslims who own guns...

    Interesting.

    Would Republicans have a problem with publishing a list of Muslims who own guns?
    Inquiring minds want to know. What if some of the Muslims on the list owned guns
    and these Republicans were distributing it?

    Harassment is exactly the intention of publishing a list of muslims. Just a bunch of good christians acting christ like.

    Are we really debating the mechanisms of publishing lists? The GOP is has moved on to almost straight facism. Sickening.

    Did you just Identify Muslims themselves? Shiites killing Sunni, Sunni killing Shiites. Wahhabi's/Salafists killing both Shia, Sunni and any religion other than their own.

    Oh, God Help Us---your post is so full of wild speculation, made-up stories, innuendo, straw men, unsupported claims and who knows what else, I can hardly make sense of the chaos of it. What ever happened to rational thought in your neck of the woods?

    WHO advocated the publishing of gun owners names? WHO? Post the source, tell us what people or organization are legally advocating this. I can hardly wait to here how the poor, persecuted NRA, which has practically bought all of congress, is suffering righ now. Aren't 300 million guns enough? Do you need 400 million to feel secure?

    Sharia law cannot replace civil law in America---it's totally impossible. The very notion is absurd. Preposterous. The only "legal" Sharia Law would be things like financial matters WITHIN the religious organization---very similar to how a synagog is run today and has been run since who knows when.

    PS: "Clock Boy" turned out to be a fraud. He just hustled the American media. He didn't "invent" anything. All he did was gut a digital clock and put the pieces in a box. That's it for the Muslim Terrorist/Genius. Americans are so gullible.

    From 'Why Grandpa Carries A Gun" -
    (http://www.balough.info/index_files/Why_Grandpa_carries_a_gun.pdf)

    I don't carry a gun to kill people;
    I carry a gun to keep from being killed.

    I don't carry a gun because I'm evil;
    I carry a gun because I have lived long enough to see the evil in the World.

    I don't carry a gun because I hate the government;
    I carry a gun because I understand the limitations of government.

    I don't carry a gun because I'm angry;
    I carry a gun so that I don't have to spend the rest of my life, hating myself for failing to be prepared.

    There's more!!
