The issue has not been addressed by SCOTUS. Not hearing a case is not a SCOTUS decision on the case. It may come up again but after the SB shooting, timing was bad.

For whatever reason, several people here have a problem understanding this.

The point the OP is making i that refusal to hear the case is not the same as upholding a law. The law can still be challenged. There are many reasons that the Supreme court refuses to hear a case. A completely different argument could be presented to them that they will eventually take up. Upholding the law means they heard the case and still found in favor of the city. Nothing of the case has occurred. Personally I don't like that we have to rely on the supreme court to interpret the second amendment for us. I believe that any state that honors the Constitution should create specific laws preventing any new gun control. That would solve the problem without having to let courts make that decisions for you.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference in the weapons?

The bottom rifle has a flash suppressor - the cage-looking thing on the end of the barrel..
Otherwise, apart from color, the rifles are identical.
Further, if you remove the flash suppressor from that rifle, it is no longer banned.

Thanks for the clarification. That's about the silliest thing I've heard today.

Welcome to what passes for logic among those who support 'assault weapon' bans.

I'm just happy that the Supreme Court refused to hear this case.
