trump likes me and he would like you if you didn't hate him.

I agree that the whole thing as designed to hurt them all.

I doubt that the Republicans in Congress will cut their own throats by opposing Trump and or Cruz.

If a Trump/Cruz ticket wins the Career Republican politicians will get drunk for a few days and when they sober up they will stand up in support of Trump and Cruz or not even win their next primary.

These are serious times and people want a person who can get things done, not just promise to get rid of "0"-care, stop amnesty and control the budget. Trump is the only one and to a lesser degree Cruz that isn't burdened with the lies told to us by the Republicans in the 2014 election cycle. We are tired of "Yes I said that - BUT"

Most Iowans embrace the sensible, conservative values and practices that once made our country the envy of the world.

    Cruz would represent those values.

Not to go all 'birther' on Cruz supporters, but how on earth does he qualify as a natural born citizen? Born in Canada. Canadian citizen. End of story.

Seriously, why not pick an Emir from Kuwait?

"0"bama changed the requirement. Not only is "0" still a citizen Indonesia his father of record was never an America citizen Cruz's father was at the time of his birth.

"0"bama could have been born in the Lincoln bed room and still not been a natural born citizen because his father was not an American citizen. Sorry the discussion about his birth place is a diversion. It didn't matter.

Iowa republicans have a trend of voting for the religious nuts.... and they are never the final candidates :)

think they voted for Mike Huckabee before too

no, Obama did not change the requirement, birthers just did not want a black man to be President, Cruz is white

Cruz is everything they claimed Obama was.... yet they are silent and even support Cruz

Ted Cruz is the Democrats worst nightmare.

Ted will obliterate Hillary in the debates.

It would make a good bumper sticker ... Vote Cruz -"F**k the country, outlaw abortion ...". Catchy.

I can expect Cruz to surge in the land of Joni Ernst. However, I think Trump is going to pull a nasty rabbit out of the hat and go on a full verbal attack in Iowa aimed at Cruz.

I really didn't give Cruz much of a chance at the beginning of the year. I still don't. Trump has surprised me, I figured him being for abortion, against abortion, for abortion and against again would wear thin. But it has to be the man and his bombastic, anti-political correctness that draws followers, not his stances on the issues as some are anathema to most Republicans.

What Trump has done is hog the airways where no other candidate can get any airtime or a word in edgewise. Perhaps what the media wants is a contest between Trump and Hillary, great for ratings. I don't know, nothing normal about this election cycle.

Huckabee and Santorum won Iowa. Although it wasn't until the primaries were just above over with that we found out Santorum won in Iowa. So are you saying that whoever wins Iowa is dead as far as the nomination goes?

I am not enough of a fan of any of them to check their campaigns or websites to see if they have anything comprehensive to offer regarding the economy and government cuts, and I do not hang on their every word. If they have something - shame on them for not making sure everyone knows the details. I would be shocked if government in Ohio has not grown under Kasich.

It would actually be easy to make very significant cuts. There is simply no will to do it. Just offer to give the money saved to the voters - instant massive support. Most programs deliver far less that what they cost. The Big Rewards of Big Government go to the government class that administers the programs.

Here is a bone to the Establishment: Give 90% of the cuts to the voters - keep 10% to "reduce the deficit". Let them pretend a bit ... ;-)

Those are nice general "motherhood and apple pie" statements. It's like saying cancer is bad. We need to cure cancer. You say give 905 of the cuts to the voters. Oh that sounds really really nice. But what programs are you willing to cut ? If you had the power to make an and all cuts that you wished which agencies , programs or entire departments would you cut ?

What you said is what many candidates for office say. They will make cuts, improve efficiency, get rid of stupid, reduce taxes, support motherhood, cure cancer and erectile dysfunction for AARP crowd. Are you going to go with a slash and burn across the board cut ? Well you better excuse the DOD from your cut.

Trump is concerned that Cruz is a bit of maniac:
We need the right temperament in the next President, the kind of person who can work with others, even washed up no-talent losers. The Donald continues:
    https://politicalwire.com/2015/12/13/trump-says-cruz-is-a-maniac/

So you have "Pathological Ben" on the one side and "Maniac Cruz" on the other side, and the middle choice, Sensible Moderates for Trump.

More butcher shop than apple pie. But a butchers chart of a hog with all the cuts outlined and the savings (Big Green Dividend Check) from cutting them off the big porker.

Youtube spot: Which is better for you? Department of Education/Energy/Commerce or a BIG GREEN CHECK? ;-)

A politician that wants to really get full voter attention could run on a model school reform bill to reform (state level legislation):

    1. place the entire education assessment in a voucher for every K- 12 school child. That would be about $20K/year/child.
    2. credential every college graduate to teach up to 10 students in their home.

A new local political faction running on that would spring up instantly and enjoy an overwhelming advantage over any opposition. It's the money - not apple pie.

I was a Carson man, but I'm afraid that although he means well, and I still like him a lot, he doesn't have the experience and know-how in this highly-complex political arena. A lot of us agree with Trump on a number of issues and viewpoints, but he simply isn't realistic and couldn't get a majority of votes in the election.

Ted Cruz is a different person altogether from either Trump or Carson, with a great deal of experience and understanding of exactly how Washington D. C. works. He's an intelligent, America-loving, Constitution-respecting Conservative, and that will be good enough for me -- especially considering that his opponent is going to be the Madame Defarge of the Democrat Party, "Blood Clot" Hillary....

The standard hasn't changed. I just don't want you to waste your vote on someone who the heavily democratic courts will surely turn away.

You can't possibly be talking about the same Ted Cruz that his Senate collegues know.

He has accomplished absolutely nothing during his brief and largely disasterous Senatorial career.

Oh, he did singlehandedly nearly cause the US to default on its debts, earning condemnation for the entire planet, not to mention his own party.

When Ted Cruz gets on an elevator in any of the Senate buildings or in the Capitol, people turn their backs to him.

A guy with a history like that isn't likely to be any kind of a good president, no matter what one may make of his political views.

You can discern the chosen of the oligarchy, by the size of their war chests, coming from corporations and the banking cabal. While Bush would be their first choice, given the connections of the Bush family and the fact they are oligarchs, he isn't doing that well and so they have to find someone else to buy and control like a puppet.

Cruz is a free trading globalist and that is a requirement for any candidate backed by the people who created and wrote all of the free trade agreements and banking deregs. That some white working GOPhers will vote for him is evidence of a disconnect from the reality that we live in. This disconnect beginning in 1980 has destroyed America, weakened her, impoverished her people, taken away job security, and yet the people hurt the most, are still voting for either the GOP oligarchs or the Dem oligarchs. All of the hard evidence is there, to prove this, but no one seems to care.
