I'll make it easy for you. Your wrong. Admit it, and move on.

No idea what I am allegedly incorrect about. Seems odd to request I admit error when there was none.

And for decades Republicans have said they are the voice of the people, not just the rich. The new tea party movement showed up an screwed up everything. Whats your point? For republicans to finally realize money is the root of all evil?

The two dead gaboonkas in Texas over a possibility of a carton is of course is of course only a small number of dead caused by the ridicules asre-hole reaction by Muslims over a cartoon.

That's not what you said. And everything you said after the first sentance of my response confirms it.

Just when do you think we should be "learning about the culture, history, and language of our enemies"????????

I'm gonna say a couple lesson plans after we learn about our own cultural history. Which kiiiinda includes Christianity. And those pesky Ten Commandments.

I agree. However, I also agree with this:

    Yes, it was a mistake.

Good post...... and as far as the question "How do you define stupidity'? Always liked Albert Einstein's quote...."The difference b/t genius and stupidity is genius knows it's limits"......

I'm a liberal, and I agree that this assignment was extremely wrongheaded, whatever good intentions there may have been. The assignment was a very bad idea.

And I strongly disagree with your assessment of my ability to be logical.

I think what certain teachers are doing is wrong. If they want to teach about Islamic beliefs, use a history book. If we want well rounded, educated and tolerant teens, we parents need to talk to Administrators about fairness to all beliefs.

They took out prayer in schools and plaques that say, "In God We Trust". These are Christian symbolism and if schools want to teach about Allah, they need to teach about all Gods that students may or may not believe in. At least get educated.

Using calligraphy in Arabic is fine with me. This school shouldn't have included Allah only if it was a private Muslim institution.

Lul. Religion doesn't have a place being preached or proselytised in public schools, but this is clearly not a case of that.

Nothing, but you really need to demonstrate that this is an example of religion being promoted. If it is not then all we have left is the right-wing yet again having hysterics.

More conspiracy nonsense. You'll have to do a lot better-and just because your lessons in geography didn't include the fields I mentioned it doesn't mean they are irrelevant-except to your weak argument.

I call it as I see it. If an 'argument' is puerile, simplistic and clearly based in bigotry and fear what the hell do you expect; applause?

Why do people find it so difficult to understand that this was not proselytizing? It would have been no different had the subject been a Mediaeval English religious text or early Cyrillic or Sanskrit, yet those who really should know better go into paroxysms of hysterical outrage because of the tenuous association with terrorism!

Christmas is a secular federal holiday, that is what the school celebrates, not the religious version of Christmas.... Santa tis the reason for the season

now if the school was proselytizing Jesus, that would be different....

though the break should be called winter break imo, just like spring break is called spring break....

If there is no God, who or what decided that there would be only one proton, one electron and zero neutrons in Hydrogen, and how two Hydrogen atoms would unite to make Helium--all down the line. Who decided how atoms would would interact with each other? Who or what provided us with gravity, and what is it? Who determined the speed of light. Why is there synchrotron radiation? Who decided life forms would be carbon based? Yes, these all follow the LAWS of physics, chemistry and biology, but who made the laws? The "who" is my version of God, an awesome, and unknowable God.

So, if the schools remained closed for the rest of the year how much improvement in student literacy should we expect?

The association isn't tenuous at all - it is clear and concise. Instead of handing their students assignments covering all the major religious in some way - Christian and Jewish Biblical quotes for instance - they gave an Arabic - Islamic quote citing the true tenant's of Islam and Muhammad, who isn't even the founder of Islam (Abraham, founder of Judaism's brother Isaac is). Muhammad is the one who turns Islam in the 7th Century from a peaceful religious belief, which acknowledges the major Christian leaders, like Jesus, as prophets, to violence when he is forced to flee Mecca for Medina. The Islamic violent conquest covers most of the Middle East, North Africa, and extends into Italy, where its spread is halted at the Battle of Venice, and in France, by Charles Martel, at the Battle Of Tours. Islamic roots remain in those countries, particularly the Moorish influence in Spain today. Unfortunately, the Freshman World Geography book that most American students use, is very generic when it comes to the major religions of the world. It outlines their founders, timeline, accomplishments, beliefs, etc., but doesn't go into all of the details pertaining to those religion's, like Jesus' death by the Romans, blamed on the Jewish Sanhedrin High Court, the dispersing of the Jews from Palestine-Israel by the Romans after their bloody uprising in 70 AD, or the violent Islamic war which raged on across Africa and into Europe, and the European counter-moves like the unsuccessful Crusades. That isn't be design, there is just way too much information to study and learn, particularly 9th grader's, where the major religion's are, in fact, taught. However, giving 9th grade students an Arabic quote identifying Allah as the one true God of the universe, as it relates to religion, one of the constant's of history, was totally incorrect. The teacher(s) trying to be creative? Perhaps, but chose the wrong method to do so, the public backlash, in view of the current opinion by most Christians and Jews, of Islam, and its minority, murderous philosophy like ISIS, and recent terrorist attacks against the Western Democracies, in France, and right here in the United States, should have precluded such an obvious, prejudicial topic from being given as a school assignment. The public outcry - easily predictable - the school response? They just should have apologized in public and cancelled the assignment, perhaps reprimanded the teacher, but closing down the entire school district for the day, sheds much more attention on this controversial incident than it deserved, and people will now remember it. The school district hasn't helped the current suspicion and fear of Islamic terrorism right here in the good old USA, and I am really surprised President Obama hasn't come out with one of his Jimmy Carter moralist speeches, criticizing the parents and citizens for their anger over having their children write out an Arabic-Islamic quote clearly citing Islam as the one and only true religion of the world. Could have been dozen's of other quotes used for this purpose..............

Outrage is subjective. Personally I have no time for the neanderthals who cannot use reason but instead rely on fear and hysteria as their guide. Also, would you mind awfully using paragraphs in future? It makes reading lengthy text so much easier. Thanks.
