Turkish Troops Kill 18 Terrorists after attack on Iraq camp: Erdogan

Turkish troops have killed 18 members of the ISIL group after the "jihadists" launched an attack on a camp used to train Iraqi fighters outside the Iraqi city of Mosul, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday.

Turkish forces have been using the Bashiqa camp, just outside Mosul, to train local Iraqi fighters to retake the city from ISIL.

"Eighteen members of the ISIL terror organisation who wanted to infiltrate Bashiqa were neutralised," Erdogan said in televised comments after Friday prayers in Istanbul.

Turkish forces killed some 18 ISIL members in attack to Bashiqa camp

Turkish forces have killed 18 members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) after jihadists tried to sneak into a training camp in the Bashiqa region of northern Iraq late on Jan. 7, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan confirmed on Jan. 8.

“Militants, reportedly of Daesh [were behind the attack]; I believe some 18 were neutralized,” Erdoğan said, using an Arabic acronym for ISIL while preferring the word “neutralized” which may be employed to mean either killed or apprehended.

“There are no wounded friends; we have no such knowledge at the moment,” Erdoğan added, referring to reports of Turkish soldiers being wounded in the attack.

    "Neutralized". I like it.

Too bad your soldiers didn't "neutralize" more of them, Kemalistdevrimci.

Oh, well. Keep up the good work, and Happy Hunting. It's open season on jihadists and there's no bag limit! :machinegun::banana:

According to Iraq, there was no fight between ISIS and Turkish troops. Erdogan is buying oil from ISIS, and now that the corridor in Syria has been shut, he moved the Turkish troops into Iraq, and refuses to pull them out.

Yesterday the US told him to get them out of Iraq, but Erdogan says he is there to fight ISIS...that's why he made up the story about being attacked by ISIS. In reality the Turkish troops are training them. :wall:

"...However, a statement from Iraq has cast doubt on Erdogan’s announcement. According to Iraq’s joint operations command, there was no such attack on a Turkish base or any recent military engagement between the Turkish forces and ISIS whatsoever.

“The joint operations command denies there was a terrorist attack on the position of Turkish forces in Bashiqa by the terrorist Daesh recently,” said a news flash on state television, Reuters reported.

According to another similar statement: The joint operations command denies what was relayed in some media outlets from the Turkish president about clashing between the Turkish forces inside Iraqi territory and the terrorist Daesh whether in Bashiqa or any other areas..."

The Turks are heroes. By fighting against Iranian-backed terrorists and the dictator Assad, the Turks are helping my country, Israel.

The Turks are wrong, however, to criticize Israel for shooting Turkish terrorists helping the Palestinians when we raided that ship.

Other than that episode, I support the efforts of the Turks, Saudis and Qataris in the war on Iranian-backed terror.

God bless Israel. The time has come for the USA to put boots on the ground against Iran. The Bible tells Christians to defend Israel, in advance of the second coming.
