While narcissistic entertainers with little real power like Elvis, Marlon Brando or Kanye West entertain and inform us, once they acquire the power of a head of state, they become threats to those who votes put them in office.

Donald Trump is certainly a narcissist and do is Obama. In fact all politicians and actors, musicians and anyone else who put themselves out there in the public eye are too. They crave the spotlight and some of them, like Obama, don't care if it's negative attention as long as it's attention.

 

I think there's a clinical distinction between those with burning ambition fueled by high octane self-confidence and a certifiable narcissist:

Obama is not a narcissist. He's been your typical moderate liberal Democrat.

 

If you examine American history, you will see 'a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance, a deep need for admiration and a lack of empathy for others.' running rampant in all or most of our wars, and that includes top generals and politicians who ran those wars.

 

I'll tell you another difference. Obama is an accomplished explorer who's been to unheard of fifty seven states, speak dead languages like Austrian and aka modern Magellan, who discovered Hawaii in Asia. Trump is well... In comparison, Trump did no such things.

 

Not'n should save Hillary from jail, not with the amount of damning disclosures coming out daily. Trump should be fine, what's with public outcry against impotent, incompetent Obama. We shall see.

most presidents will contain a lot of traits that people might find offensive in large doses... but there was a fun study from the journal Psychological Science a while back, ranking and showing the narcissistic level of many presidents... seems neither side is immune to people like this, heck if we did this on congress, half probably would fall into this category on both sides... seems politics and narcissism go hand in hand... heck almost anyone who succeeds will have higher rates than someone who does not...
