A carbon tax will NOT work fast enough to address WAIS collapse.

A tax on carbon will take centuries to address the real issues associated with the impending collapse of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet!

    http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2015...antarctic-ice-sheet-raise-sea-levels-3-meters
Just a nudge could collapse West Antarctic Ice Sheet, raise sea levels 3 meters

We need to be researching and discussing options that can work much faster!

Every cubic meter of ocean water that is desalinated and added to the water table of North Africa or Qatar of Jordan or Israel...... will NOT be putting pressure on the oceans to overflow New Orleans, Bangladesh, The Netherlands and parts of Florida!

Japanese engineers don't merely design good cars!

I loved Mr. Al Gore's film "An Inconvenient Truth." He got us asking better questions but............ I suspect that even Mr. Gore would tend to agree that a carbon tax will take many centuries to do anything about the threats posed by rising ocean levels!

Bjorn Lomborg Ph. D. believes that climate change is real........ he just doesn't think that a carbon tax should be the only option being discussed!

The nation of Israel has developed amazing solar desalination technology that they shared with Norway...... so that their Norwegian allies could share this life saving technology with the Islamic nations.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!! Man made climate change is not real, never was never will be. That buffoon Al Gore knows less about climate than he did about being the vice prez. Gore is an attention whore who just couldn't live another day of irrelevance so he made up this movie to grab a little publicity and promptly went back to being irrelevant. Of course the liberal tax junkies glommed onto this pile of crap and thought man this is perfect, someone finally figured out how to tax the air we breath. That is all there is to this nonsense. Is the climate changing? Yep does it all the time it's a natural cyclical occurrence. Get over it.

Over in another discussion ..... another poster was wondering if I was hallucinating when I wrote about deciding which crops we might want to grow in the nation of Jordan?

She had a good point because the amount of rainfall and type of soil in Jordan obviously limits our range of choice!

So are you also saying that the G-d of Abraham/ The Creator of heaven and earth....... is so weak................ and so lacking in understanding of astronomy and other branches of science that ....... this verse in Isaiah could not possibly come to pass?

    Isaiah 30:26
If the light of the sun is somehow or another increased gradually...... will we not face the possibility of rising ocean levels?

If you read what I wrote.... you will see that I am not exactly advocating a carbon tax....... and back in 2007 when I submitted a somewhat tongue in cheek application for the Al Gore/ Sir Richard Branson...... Virgin Earth Challenge........ I am advocating a method that fits better with Isaiah chapter 35.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/humor...ssions-25-million-virgin-earth-challenge.html
My two somewhat humorous submissions for $25 million Virgin Earth Challenge.

Back in 2007 Sir Richard Branson and Mr. Al Gore announced the Virgin Earth Challenge!

I had watched "An Inconvenient Truth" several times already and I was thinking about another angle on the subject that would fit better with Isaiah chapter 35.
    ....................
    Dear Mr. Branson:

It is my firm belief that the number one technological device to reduce atmospheric greenhouse gases has already been invented. It is the tree.

What is desperately needed at this time is not necessarily a new mechanical device but instead a paradigm shift in economic theory regarding monetary policy. We require a readily understandable explanation on how leaders in business and government can direct not only millions, but actually trillions of dollars of investment into combating global warming.

One of the most effective practical methods that could be put into place in the least amount of time would be dozens of the largest possible desalinization plants all along the Mediterranean and Red Seas. Huge quantities of fresh water could be dripped onto the Sinai and Sahara deserts and voila, well chosen species of newly planted fast growing trees could soon change the color of these relatively desolate areas, significantly reduce atmospheric CO2, positively affect local weather patterns and at the same time significantly counterbalance the increases in worldwide ocean levels as the polar ice caps melt. This will buy us some extra time and thus expand the “very brief window of opportunity to deal with climate change.”

So who is going to finance the construction of all these massive installations not to mention the planting of all those seedling trees?

I believe that it is possible for you to do this yourself Mr. Branson. You have already created a Virgin currency unit/coupon which has astonishing long term potential. My wife Maria Jose just returned from a two week trip to the British VIRGIN Islands. It is theoretically possible to link your Virgin coupon with the national currency of a small nation and you could soon be playing around in macro-economics. Considering the volume of business being done through your Virgin Group I would submit that you already are.

Pope Benedict XVI may be in an even stronger position than you Mr. Branson to transform the world economy virtually overnight through the introduction of a new Vatican Currency Unit that could be linked with each and every national currency where the Vatican State is free to do business.

I plan to elaborate in great detail on these two major alternatives in a later writing but I felt that you and your staff should now see the simple explanation that I wrote up for applying this theory within a micro-economy to greatly reduce unemployment. Although combating global warming would seem to be a conflicting goal to job creation, there need be no dissonance when we all have a better grasp of the big picture.

I ran as an independent for the office of MLA in the most recent Nova Scotia provincial election.

a carbon tax is not the answer, science will have to learn how to scrub the atmosphere, change it where needed

maybe nano particles added to gasoline that when released into the atmosphere go to work fixing it

I actually do think that this idea may have enormous potential!

I've heard some pretty astonishing and encouraging things about nano-technology but......…

..... I am a Theist at heart and I would prefer to do what needs to be done to unleash the positive blessing that seem to be associated with the fulfillment of Ezekiel chapters 40 to 48 FIRST......… and wait a few more years or decades until nano-technology is better tested so that the possible negative side effects are better understood.

    http://www.politicalforum.com/relig...ay-least-expensive-way-stabilize-climate.html

Rebuilding of Jerusalem Third Temple may be least expensive way to stabilize climate?

I am fairly certain that this verse in the Jewish Bible is certainly not advocating that in the era of Moshiach that every body has to go to Jerusalem to observe the Festival of Tabernacles, merely that nations allow their Jews and Noahides to freely travel to and back from Jerusalem in order to observe Tabernacles.

Zechariah 14:17 "And it shall be, [that] whoso will not come up of [all] the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain."

As more of us come to the realization of how dangerous the melting and cracking and sliding that is going on in Greenland and the West Antarctic Ice Sheet really is, we will be more inclined toward supporting the Jewish people in their desire to rebuild their Third Temple.

"Rebuilding of Jerusalem Third Temple may be least expensive way to stabilize climate? "

that will do nothing, in fact that is part of what is supposed to bring the end times, so why would anyone even want to do it even if it was true?

If...… the rebuilding of the Jerusalem Third Temple is done in an unwise manner....... by people who have either an extreme right wing...… or extreme left wing...… political or religious world view....... yes......… it could well spark nuclear WWIII but I have something in mind that could be very very different.............. The article by Mr. Eporu Ronald Alfred that I put in front of Canada's Conservative Movement in post #6 here is critical background information............… So would be a serious proposal to get retired Canadian P. M. Stephen Harper involved with this in some way.......... or at least his old friend Mr. Peter MacKay?!

    .............

    http://www.politicalforum.com/relig...s-p-m-brokering-jordan-israel-peace-deal.html

.... or meditate on Canada's P. M. brokering Jordan - Israel peace deal?

Please notice also post # 4.... This opinion expressed by John S..... is interesting and is representative of a fairly common belief pattern among many evangelical Christians:

.........… Now if an ethical person...… who was humble.... and was trying their best to save lives...… were to volunteer to take over the throne of that ......"antichrist" person.......... then that would have significant "Artistic" value wouldn't it?

The amount of expansion of ice on Antarctica over all.........… mostly in the CENTRAL region is so COLOSSAL..... that it may well be the number one reason why we have not already seen significant rise in ocean levels.

According to the new analysis of satellite data, the Antarctic ice sheet showed a net gain of 112 billion tons of ice a year from 1992 to 2001. That net gain slowed to 82 billion tons of ice per year between 2003 and 2008.

“We’re essentially in agreement with other studies that show an increase in ice discharge in the Antarctic Peninsula and the Thwaites and Pine Island region of West Antarctica,” said Jay Zwally, a glaciologist with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, and lead author of the study, which was published on Oct. 30 in the Journal of Glaciology. “Our main disagreement is for East Antarctica and the interior of West Antarctica – there, we see an ice gain that exceeds the losses in the other areas.” Zwally added that his team “measured small height changes over large areas, as well as the large changes observed over smaller areas.”

Scientists calculate how much the ice sheet is growing or shrinking from the changes in surface height that are measured by the satellite altimeters. In locations where the amount of new snowfall accumulating on an ice sheet is not equal to the ice flow downward and outward to the ocean, the surface height changes and the ice-sheet mass grows or shrinks.

But it might only take a few decades for Antarctica’s growth to reverse, according to Zwally. “If the losses of the Antarctic Peninsula and parts of West Antarctica continue to increase at the same rate they’ve been increasing for the last two decades, the losses will catch up with the long-term gain in East Antarctica in 20 or 30 years -- I don’t think there will be enough snowfall increase to offset these losses.”

And this of course is ONLY applicable to the Antarctic.

You just shot yourself in the ass Spooky.

You could well be correct. That might well be the wiser course of action.......... and perhaps I am naïve to believe that that stream of living water mentioned in Ezekiel chapter 47 can play a MASSIVE role in bringing genuine peace to the Middle East?!?!

    https://www.blueletterbible.org/kjv/eze/47/1/s_849001

    Ezekiel 47:2

The final decision on whether to rebuild the Jerusalem Third Temple would be made by BOTH the Jerusalem Sanhedrin as well as by P. M. Benjamin Netanyahu.....(or whoever happens to be P. M. of Israel when that decision is finally addressed)!

    P. M. Netanyahu and all members of the Israeli Knesset and all 71 Rabbi's on the Sanhedrin
would be EXTREMELY worried that they make the correct and the INSPIRED decision........ so even if somebody like me does succeed in setting them up so that the possibility is real for the rebuilding of the Jerusalem Third Temple.........by either 2030 or by 2070........ They will not make this actually happen lightly....... or casually.........… and the key may well be President Obama's older half brother Mr. Malik Obama:

Is Malik Obama one of the worlds' most courageous Muslims?

Nano sized particles are called atoms. You can stick those particles together to create molecules, but there's a limit to the size of molecules you can put into the atmosphere. Gas density (and thus buoyancy) is relative to molecular mass. Stick more than a few carbon sized atoms together and the stuff won't float in our atmosphere.

We can easily make molecules that will "scrub carbon" (trap green house gases) but then they have too much mass to float in the ocean of gases we call our atmosphere. And making something that will do what you want, and be selective enough not to be toxic to us, with only a few atoms... it's not an easy trick.

But I agree with your basic premise, we need to focus more on carbon fixation than on reducing carbon emissions — because there is already way too much crap floating around for our own good. Even if we brought emissions to zero tomorrow, we're still in trouble unless we clean up what we've already put there. And if we're honest with ourselves, we're not going to get anywhere near zero emissions anytime soon.

The nation of Israel has experienced COOLING in their climate over the last sixty years.

They also lead the world in planting trees and in desalination of ocean water for agriculture and reforestation projects.

I am certain that this is not a coincidence!

Carbon tax is just another scam the rich will use to squeeze the common man. Pretty soon you will be taxed for each (*)(*)(*)(*) you take. The world icecaps melted eons before humans were here. It is just a natural cycle the world goes through, just like the ice age. The rich decided it would make a good excuse for more taxes.

But now we are living in a time period when we have to decide if it is best to protect vulnerable cities with dikes and sea walls or..........could it be wiser to finance large scale desalination projects that could generate perhaps fifty percent of the electricity needed by Europe............… at the same time that water is diverted out of the oceans and into the water table of desert nations?
