The Turks have been hammering the Kurds in Syria from inside of its territory, as well as the Syrian army, and the State Dept. has asked them to stop. It has also asked the Kurds not to aggravate the situation by occupying new territories in Northern Aleppo. Turkeys PM Devoutoglou gave an ultimatum to the Syrian Kurds which are allies with both the US and Russia, to withdraw from all areas around Azaz and not go back otherwise Turkey will invade Syria. At the same time Russian jets started patrolling Aleppo and Azaz.

6,000 Iranians had recently arrived near Aleppo to replenish the Syrian forces, and to help retake the city. With the new action of Turkey, Russia has put 10,000 paratroopers on alert.

The US State Department issued a statement which recommends that the YPG (Syrian Kurds) not exploit the situation and do not occupy new territories in northern Aleppo.

The Turks continued to pound positions of the Kurdish north and the Syrian Army in Latakia.

The A.Ntavoutoglou admitted that Turkish artillery hit Kurdish positions around Azaz for two hours to answer in two separate attacks by the forces of YPG and Syrian Army in the Turkish military base Akçabağlar Çalıboğazı and the police station in Hatay.

According to Moon the race to Raqqa is on. Raqqa is ISIS's headquarters, and where the Syrian oil wells are located.

Turkey today threatened further and wider attacks on Kurdish held areas in Syria. The Turkish 2nd Army is positioned to attack Syria from the north. It could come through the ISIS held corridor between Azaz in the west and Jarablus in the east and move south towards the Islamic State held Raqqa while other forces, see below, would reach Raqqa from the south and south east. Syria would be thus split into a government held western half and an ISIS and U.S. allies held eastern half.

Russian advisers have trained one Syrian brigade specifically for the purpose of holding off a Turkish invasion. But that brigade is probably not a big enough deterrence for the large Turkish forces and could soon be overwhelmed.

Syrian oil is very sour and heavy... and short of ISIS selling it cheap, its of no value to anyone else.. There's a glut of oil on the market. You might write to Moon and tell him that.

Doesn't change the fact that Turkey wants the oil and the Kurds gone.

Syrian oil production has been on the decline for over 15 years.. They aren't producing but about 30,000 bpd..

Turkey's oil production isn't particularly strong... maybe 60,000 bpd.. But, it the price goes up, they can drill in the Black Sea..

    Hate the Kurds?

The Kurds have been giving the Turks fit for many, many years.. You remember Massoud and Mustapha Barzani .. Israel was arming that clan in Turkey since 1952.

You don't have to answer. I know why. Conservative Muslims wish all who practice the religion of Sufism to die. Strange those Muslims just can't tolerate other Muslims of different sects. The Kurds are one of the rare sects that is pretty much isolated with them. Kind of no surprise when you see how all their neighbors have treated them forever.

    http://www.nimatullahi.org/what-is-sufism/

    https://www.quora.com/Sufi-Islam/Why-are-some-fundamentalist-Muslims-opposed-to-Sufism

(Interview: 'Many Americans Love Rumi...But They Prefer He Not Be Muslim')

    3. Sufism is often regarded as heretical. Sufism isn't afraid to transcend the frame of reference that is Islam in order to pursue true understanding of God. They rightly understand that God is beyond frame of references.

    "I go into
    the Muslim mosque
    and the Jewish synagogue
    and the Christian church
    and I see one
    altar."
    - Rumi

& of course, even moderate muslims find this aspect of sufism fishy, what more fundamentalists.

    4. Somehow the main difference that strikes me is that Sufism is very inclusive, non-violent and in principle a tolerant and pacifist philosophy. Losing the 'self' in search for the Beloved, the Divine disintegrates the idea of 'the other,'

Fundamentalism on the other hand, can be rather exclusivist and violently opposed to anything that does not correspond with their own values. There is sometimes an 'us vs them' mentality in the way they respond to 'others.' When we consider this .. it's really inevitable that there'll be friction between the two.

Of course this very reason that Muslims hate the Kurds is the reason Americans should save the Kurds.

Many KSA nut swingers support the idea that America come to Syria. None of those nut swingers would support America coming to aid the Kurds.

A very good example of the result of disinformation.

We have around 15 million Kurds living in Turkiye.
They became chief of staff, prime minister, president, parliament chief, etc.

We are all equal in Turkiye with all kurds, arabs, caucasian origin nations, etc.

We hate seperatist Kurdish terrorists. The name of this organisation is PKK in Turkiye and Iraq. PYD in Syria.

I do not believe that the Turks are stupid enough to invade Syria even if they would love to kill of the Kurds. Having said that it does appear that the Turks are becoming a problem child for the US just as Syria is for the Moskaliy and North Korea is for the Chi.Coms.

The Kurds like every other group that has lived in Turkey before being ethnically cleanse, is looked upon as being a threat to Turkey's territorial integrity. But you can't kill the religious and cultural identity of another group of people in order to keep one's borders intact. Erdogan's fear is that if the Kurds are given a certain amount of autonomy that eventually they will want to unite with their brethren living on the other side of their border. ..which is of course a legitimate fear.

There are ways that nations and people can be given equal rights and respect, and still remain united because it would be mutually beneficial to them, but it's not Erdogan's way...nor that of his followers in Turkey. They prefer the hard handedness and cruelty of the Ottoman era in their quest for power and greatness...

The Kurds responded back to Turkey's gobbling. Naturally Putin would luv his portion of the Turkey dinner.

Syrian Kurdish party rejects Turkish demands, warns against intervention.....

The Syrian Kurdish PYD party on Sunday rejected Turkish demands that allied militia withdraw from positions near the border that are being shelled by Turkish army, and warned that Syrians would resist any Turkish intervention in the country.

Saleh Muslim, the co-chair of the PYD, told Reuters Turkey had no right to intervene in Syria's internal affairs, adding that an air base shelled by the Turkish army on Saturday had been in the hands of the al Qaeda-linked Nusra Front until forces allied to the PYD captured it last week.

"Do they want the Nusra Front to stay there, or for the regime to come and occupy it?" Muslim said by telephone.

Saleh said the air base was captured by the PYD-allied Syria Democratic Forces, which includes Arabs and Turkmen alongside the powerful Syrian Kurdish YPG militia.

He added that if Turkey intervened in Syria they would find "the entire Syrian people confronting them"......snip~

Of course, the Russians need living space. How can only 6,000 miles contain 150 million people?

The Kurds are complicating things on the ground.

We must welcome Saudi and Turk ground troops, who will push back Assad and Iran, thereby protecting our ally Israel.

Turkey should continue to get rid of Kurdish trouble-making; the Kurds terrorize our NATO Turkish allies.

Whats complicating at this point about fighting al nusra and ISIS? Raqqa and ISIS finally in true danger and now we are supposed to worry about Kurdish advances(OUR ALLIES who are actively fighting) in a civil war against an Al Qaeda affiliated group at that?!?!? The FSA was not attacking Raqqa from Aleppo, Russia and Syria already are positioning that direction, seems a better situation from those of us who want to see ISIS attacked directly from the ground.

The long suffering Kurdish people are a shining light of liberty and democracy in an otherwise darkened, despotic world. Naturally, the gangsters euphemistically referred to as the "Turkish government" will do whatever they can to snuff out this beacon of liberalism and equality, lest their stranglehold on power suffer as a result.

Westerners who support democracy, equality, and liberalism need to support the Kurds and they need to put as much pressure as possible on western politicians to ensure that this happens. Write them letters, call their offices, and generally make a fuss about Turkey's deplorable treatment of the Kurdish people. We need to stand tall with our Kurdish brothers and sisters, because history will remember your silence.

The French have spoken up and told the Turks to stop shelling the Kurds. The Turks say they will do what they want to do.

Down for the record.....so Turkey knows the deal once Putin tricks Erdogan into Syria. Or decides to shell the Turks back.

Soon the Turks will find.....they wont be able to invoke article 5 no matter what they say.

Then Putin will have his feast.

Lots of Scots live in England and they want to separate from the UK and become independent of it, but we're not trying to shell or bomb or invade Scotland to stop them are we.

In such situations the best way forward is to come to an agreeable understanding using common sense and common aims. I'm sure it won't be long before Scotland does attain complete independence, although probably it will continue to be part of the UK's defence umbrella.
