    If the US is serious about its newfound commitment to law and order, we need to do a lot more than simply beg the Turks to stop bombing the innocent Kurdish people. When push comes to shove, we need to do shoving. I feel likewise to Saudi Arabia and its tyrannical regime. Either they change willingly, or the international community(read: US) changes them for them.

    The problem with Turkey & Saudi is that their sabre-rattling could become a hot war very quickly, because they have the backing of a powerful faction in Washington, sometimes referred to as the "war party", that would like nothing better than war - short of nuclear - with Russia and/or drawing Russia into a costly and sapping war in Syria. But, of course, once you have two world powers in combat the nuclear option cannot ever be ruled out. That is the danger.

    These are the guys that brought you Iran-Contra and COG. These are also the guys, I think, that faced the financial nightmare of loss with the demise of the Soviet Union as their perpetual enemy. It is my opinion that following this vacuum, they eventually decided to engineer the emergence of the best enemy money could buy.... namely radical Islamic terrorists and chose the battlefield to generally be the middle east.

    The result is the progressive increase in the defence budget with wars, wars, conflicts and wars and more glorious wars ever since.

    1000px-InflationAdjustedDefenseSpending.PNG

    Note the period of decline in the above defence budget coincided with the end of the cold war, the end of the Soviet Union and the dismantling of the Warsaw Pact in 1991.

    In 2001 the budget leaps following the military-industrial-intelligence-private-security complex godsend we all know as 9/11. It has increased steadily ever since. In 1996, the total defence budget was $1.58 trillion. Today it is $3.97trillion (source).

    Turkey's Prime Minister has said that TURKEY will not allow Azaz, SYRIA to be taken by the Syrian Kurds. He said this on a trip to Ukraine (now why Ukraine at this time?). Seems like he must be drinking the Ukie water or maybe Turkey's water is similarly contaminated. :)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    https://www.rt.com/news/332471-turkey-syria-azaz-kurds/
    Turkish Prime Minister Ahmed Davutoglu said on Monday Ankara will not allow the town of Azaz in northern Syria to fall to the Kurdish YPG forces and promised the "harshest reaction," if the group attempts to re-take the city.
    "YPG elements were forced away from around Azaz. If they approach again they will see the harshest reaction. We will not allow Azaz to fall," Davutoglu told reporters aboard his plane bound for Ukraine, Reuters reported.
    There is a eleven percent Tatar population in Crimea, which according to the Turkish mentality means since they are Turkish, then Crimea should be part of Turkey. Russia has given the Tatars in Crimea more rights than they had in Ukraine... including using their own language in school so they are content except for a small militant faction which Erdogan is exploiting. This faction is working with the Right Sector in Ukraine, and took part in the blockade of food and the destruction of the electrical plants feeding Crimea.
    ISIS is also heavily embedded in the city of Mariupol with the Right Sector. ..thanks to the criminal Mikheil Saakashvili who started the Georgian war with Russia. Washington's man Poroshenko had him replace the other criminal Kolomoisky as Gov. of Odessa, and he has been buying stolen ISIS oil, as well as facilitating ISIS's entrance into Ukraine.
    I hope Litwin and all the others from the Baltics take note, because it's not the refugees they should be worried about. It's their friends in Ukraine.
    ...... or he could just be going to Ukraine to set up a false flag op.
    Or .... OR ......... he could just be going to Ukraine to enlist Poroshenko's support in protecting Syria's territorial integrity. Mighty nice of him to be looking out for Azad without even being asked. He's a true humanitarian!!
    You're being naive. The US has no commitment to law and order, or it wouldn't be in Syria or Iraq in the first place. The only country following International law is Russia. They were invited by Assad. As for the Kurds, the Turks have been killing them for years. In the last major war between them, 40,000 were killed...almost all civilians, and many were gassed. Being a good Kurd or a bad Kurd to Washington depended on which side of the border they were on...the Iraqi or Turkish.
    Its the Saud and the Turks who keep funding the take down of Assad, who they couldn't go take Assad on themselves. As they are to incompetent when it comes to warring and being Warriors.
    What the US needs to do is.....is step back. Re-assess. Then lay some smackdown on the Saud and the Turks. Telling them....take your weak snivilin asses out of Syria. Stay out of Syria.....and don't mess with Syria.
    Or we will do to you.....what you are doing to Syria.
    Now deal with that and ST&U.
    I hate threats like this. I think that Turkey is being a jerk.
    It seems like the Kurds are being the only ones who are doing anything.
    Of course this is all about power and Turkey's Sunni bias is in la-la land where they think they need special treatment like "Assad must go" before they want to get their hands dirty fighting the ISIS problem.
    And the Turks are majority Sunni anyway, so how can we even trust them to fight their fellow Sunni in ISIS?
    So what.....so to are most Indonesians that have the Most population of Muslims, even more so that any Arab Country by itself.
    What is that suppose to mean that the Kurds are Sunni? How does that change up anything for the Kurds vs Arabs?
    http://syria.liveuamap.com
    One glance at the map reveals all the panic or Turkey. Kurds have the backing of Washington and it is them who cut all the moderate (heavy and light) ISIS from turkish border. It inhumanly stops Turkey of supplying ISIS with war materials and cannon fodder, but gives a risk of starting a bigger war of their own. Kurds are fighting for their own state. Not for Assad. And they will eventually get it from Assad politically. All the hysteria in the world propaganda which killed the free press is based on the fact that once encircled ISIS is doomed. And the control of desert is nothing of interest for US or Turkey. So the biggest scarecrow which was such a good result of cooperation between the leaders of the western world and pseudo islamic criminals will be gone.
    The biggest question at the moment is not if Erdogan will interfere or not. He will. Definetely. At all costs. And it is not even a question of if he is going to have any success by this interference. Of course he won't. All the excessive means of war for russian airforces were transported there just for this case. This is why there are SU-fighters and warships It is only a question of will the western leadership sacrifice world peace and last vague remnants of humanity by staying aside... or not.
    I think you are very young to remember what has happened with IRA in Ireland.
    Turkey's situation can not be compared with Stottish issue. This seperatist Kurdish terrorist organisation (PKK)has been established by western secret services (USA, Germany, France, etc.).Everybody knows. They were used by many governments many times including Syria, Iran, Russia,etc. They first started to kill Kurdish civilians WHO do not want to be seperate from Turkiye. They have killed thousands of Kurdish civilians. When Turkish army started to fight with them and protect Kurdish civilians then they started to kill soldiers, policemen, teachers, workers, nurses, doctors, imams,etc. They have burned hundreds of schools, hospitals, factories,etc. In 2003 Turkish Army has almost finished these terrorists so the ones WHO have remained have escaped to Iraq and Syria. The foundation of PYD in Syria is related with this issue.
    It isn't a religious issue.. The Kurds want their own state (like Israel) and that happens to be over 60% of Iraq's existing oil assets. I have often wondered if a Kurdish state would become a festering sore of expulsions and violence for 50 years.
    An army is never used to protect civilians of terrorists. This is a job for police and secret services. An army is used either against the other state or to supress military rebellions who have different religious, ethnic, cultural or other views then the official head of the state. And this is exactly what happened between the turks and kurds. The more blood separates them - the bigger is the chance that Kurdistan will take not only the territory of Syria (which will definetely happen) and not only Iraq (which is also likely to happen, but also the territory of Turkey (which is quite possible as a result of treaherous policy of Erdogan). If turks want to live in peace with the nations around them they need to like them more then the land. Genocide (like it happened with armenians) is no longer a method. to make a great state. A couple of years ago Erdogan had a chance to help syrians and kurds if he could fight against the terrorists of his own people to save lives of peaceful people of different origin. Erdogan failed. He hardly has such a choice at the moment. The war is next to you.
    Very young? Hahahaha. I was born just after WWII ended. So yes, I'm a callow youth.
    On the similarities of Turkey and the Kurds and Scotland and the English, you do need to read history. King Longshanks, in particular.
    Well, at least the Kurds are fighting ISIS. I was starting to think they were the only ones who do.
    Yeah, Turkey is afraid of the formation of Kurdistan. But I think maybe the Kurds should have it after all the work they're doing.
    The us should back the Kurds. As someone who has actually fought along side Iraqi Kurds I can tell you that without a doubt Kurds are the Spartans of the Middle East. These are the guys that would be a real danger to Turkish ground forces. If the the Turks think they are going to just roll over the Kurds in Syria or Iraq they have another thing coming to them. The greatest and most well known general of all time was a Kurd Muslim. Not to derail the subject but if there is any one group of Muslims I will break bread with here in America it is Iraqi Kurds.
    Isn't that what the link said.....that the Kurds were taking back their land and homes from the Arabs who had took them? From the Arabization? Albeit it didn't say they were killing the Arabs. More like chasing them out.
    If Turkey continues this attack after the UNITED told them to stop, then no one can blame Russia for destroying the artillery.
    https://www.rt.com/news/332718-turkey-secure-line-syria/
    Turkey just wants to expand into 10km into Syria
    It goes with the report from a Turkish, Kurdish MP that Erodogan wants to expand his "empire" and is using Isis as a tool to get this done. That's why Turkey has been supporting them
