We know Donald Trump got the attention of most of you by promising to build a wall along the US/Mexico border. Can you give us your 2nd and 3rd reasons for giving up on the so-called Republican establishment?

I prefer Cruz, but I know enough Trumpers to offer an answer. 1. The lame duck Cronybus Spending Bill. 2. All the other spending bills passed by the GOP Congress and

    3. the entire Clinton/Bush For 2016! campaign. ;-)

I'm certainly not a Trump supporter, but of all the candidates, he's the one I would most like to see win (if that makes sense).

The reason is simple. He scares the establishment. He doesn't play by the rules of the MSM, he doesn't play by the rules that other politicians think they need to play by, and he is the only one running that has made anything of himself in the public sector.

I cannot answer for all people but I believe the biggest reason people gave up on the GOP establishment is the GOP establishment. They suck.

That they do. Even their best candidate(Rubio IMO) is wedded to the neo-con foreign policy ideology which I reject. You know, when I think about it, I'm leaning towards not voting. They're just not worth it, and I've always seen 2016 as a puppet. Bring on 2020.

I'm not sure you can be so arrogant especially with Hillary with a D behind her name. But you wouldn't mind a president steeped in legal issues because she put our fighting men at risk of death and national security out there for the world to see while we pay her.

I hate neo-conservatism worse than I hate hemorrhoids but I haven't heard Trump reject it, either. Problem for my side is neither has Hillary.

What's the power of my one vote? Nothing. What consequences are there for voting the wrong way? Immense, especially if you seek political power(See: Clinton and the Iraq war vote.). Knowing that fact, what do I gain from voting? Nothing, perhaps personal satisfaction if my pick wins. But that most likely won't be the case. So you know what, I'll abstain from voting to avoid a stain on my record.

Well the truth is the truth. Just look at the past GOP candidates....if the GOP establishment wants to be able to have a nominee they approve of they need to put forth better candidates. That is just the reality of it. The dems are even worse.

Couldn't you have said something more profound like they haven't done a damn thing for middle class Republicans over the past 16 years despite all the promises and Trump sounds like he might at least try?

I'm sure doombug can answer this better than me, but I think the GOP establishment has failed on everything. Voters gave them both houses, and they have failed to do anything. Everything that Obama wanted, he got. Obamacare is still there, and funded because of them. Spending continues to increase, more government than ever before, and they have folded each and every time Obama told them to fold.

They have been less than useless, and conservatives are tired of their outright lies. The people who voted them into office got absolutely nothing in return for their faith.

    1) Enforcing our immigration laws (RINOS were warned they didn't listen)
    2) The economy, we must make the U.S.A business friendly, we are driving businesses to other nations and the middle class is paying for it. Ive never seen this many people within my circles out of work before. Ever. (RINOS were warned they didn't listen)
    3) National Security. Trump is the only non establishment candidate who is even commenting on these things. (RINOS and DEMS are both epic failures)

I guess the thing I'm having trouble understanding is that conservatives are tired of the the uselessness of their lying congressmen so they turn to somebody to run for president who's far less conservative than the people they already had running and has never been known for his forthrightness. I'm not trying to talk anybody out of anything, I'm just attempting to find out (for myself) if this is stampede mentality or if there is something coherent actually going on.

It's a hail mary attempt. We've tried with politicians, and all they did was lie. Now it's time to see if somebody who isn't a politician can get their thumb out of their butt and do what needs to be done. And the absolute first thing that needs to be done is to ignore the democrats. Not just ignore them, but openly laugh in their faces.

    Trump is doing that.

    2. they sold an entire generation to slavery with student loans just to prop up their donors - your party is also guilty of this btw

    3. they still continue to bail out banks and give them preferential status - your party is also guilty of this

i could write more but at this point why bother. your either for the establishment or your not everything is too well documented already.

It doesn't make a lot of sense.

Lots of people scare the establishment (David Duke comes to mind) but they shouldn't be President

That's not far off from what was said about Bush.

    Now THAT is scary

Trust me on this when I tell you, I am delighted to watch the demise of the Roger Ailes/Rush Limbaugh-led GOP. And it's about time somebody moved both parties off the middle class dime. I'm not sure I've heard any "here's where we start" solutions out of anybody, though. And I gotta admit, I'm underwhelmed by the idea of a 2000-mi long wall.

Never cared about the wall. I support trump because of the financial trouble he has gotten into and instead of giving up he doubled down with the banks and pulled himself out of it.

The man is cunning and brilliant and knows how to succeed and he is not apologetic. Trump is about results, not methods and in my opinion that is what we need right now.

Ill explain, we voted for these guys to do a job, once elected they refused to do a damn thing about it. We warned them about turning on the people who voted them in because they just as easily can be voted out. Youre a republican and want Amnesty? FU your gone, youre a republican and send our jobs overseas, FU youre gone, youre a replublican that doesn't want to enforce our immigration laws FU youre gone.
These RINOs simply cant believe that people are no longer swallowing their lies. They are completely blindsided that they are no longer able to tell us lies and get away with it.
Trump is like that black light at the crime scene, he illuminates every single one of these politicians who infiltrated the GOP by saying one thing then doing another like bodily fluids sprayed with luminol.
Honestly Sanders is exposing Hillary to the left but not to the same extent. Sanders wins NH!!!!!...nope wait Hillary stole that state.

I don't think Democrats are your enemies, 1) because Trump said this morning that he is attracting a lot of former Dems into the Republican primaries, 2) Trump is really a liberal himself, and 3) Democrats hate establishment Republicans worse than you do. You could add 4) if you want to in that Trump's followers and a lot of Dems are basically middle class working-types who are still being fecked over by the recession. Bernie sees that even if Hillary only pays lip service to it.

We tea party people did indeed warn the GOP that we will toss them out just as easily as any liberal and we are seeing that happen.

Oh I forgot, the tea party is dead......NOT!
