President Barack Obama is today on a state visit to Cuba today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-35856126 I am glad to see that the United States has finally seen sense and normalized relations with Cuba but I have not seen any discussion about this visit on this forum. What is your take on this visit and on the normalization of relations with Cuba?
I heard that President Obama is going to spend a few days visiting. I guess he wants to see if Cuba lives up to its reputation. Whatever that is. Is he going to try some cigars? Try the night life? Well I just hope he doesn't come down with a disease. I was under the impression there's an HIV/AIDS epidemic down there.
I think its great..... I was a teen during the Cuban Missile Crisis.. and most conservatives thought it was Cold War hysteria.. The US had screwed Cuba and driven them into the arms of the Soviets who bought their whole sugar crop until the fall of the USSR.
I have to say, not a Democrat fan in any way, so not an Obama fan at all... but it's about time to put (*)(*)(*)(*) behind us and move forward. There are benefits of allowing trade, etc, and we are a long way from the Cold War. The world has gotten a lot smaller.
Why does Cuba have to remain an enemy? Who is he ditching in going there? Might be this is the best foreign trip he has made. I think Cuba is ready.
It is time. Fidel is no longer in control and that is what we really were waiting for. Trade will bring down Cuba faster the the embargo. There is no point keeping a country as an enemy when it is so close to us.
