A new Quinnipiac poll tells the inconvenient truth. Trump and Hillary Clinton are tied in each of the three key swing states of Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida.

The breakdown in Florida reveals how truly close the race is. As Politico puts it, Clinton has a 13-point advantage among women, 48 percent to 35 percent, while Trump’s lead among men is also 13 points, 49 percent to 36 percent. Each gets 39 percent of independent voters, while Trump wins big among whites, and Clinton wins big among nonwhites. The candidates have identical net negative approvals of minus 20 points, 37 percent to 57 percent.

With the poll showing Bernie Sanders doing better against Trump than Clinton (and Sanders winning the West Virginia primary on Tuesday), I myself am growing concerned about the “unraveling” of the Democratic Party!

Bernie did exceedingly well tonight in WV, and the exit polling was damning against Hillary...

The FBI investigation is getting worse, and the Russians are threatening to release her hacked emails to the public.

She's in serious trouble right now. :clapping:

Let's hope this doesn't all end up being nonsense.

Sometimes I feel like we are in preseason where the coach tells us how bad-ass we are going to be during the season, only to get smashed during the opening game.

Texas vs. Notre Dame 2015 is still seared into my memory. Charlie Strong, and all the other people drinking orange koolaid were convinced that we were gonna go out and kick some ass--we won 5 games last season and were obliterated by the Irish.

And we haven't even been to convention yet. Trump may run away with this.

Trump is Texas and Hillary is Notre Dame.

    Very good example.

Hopefully PF's consistent, Tourette's-like, advocates of the anti-Hillary right-wing circle jerk are working on their coping mechanism for when the Dems win the White House this November.

Gonna be fun to watch that meltdown. Looking forward to it. :salute:

Yup, and I actually think there is a greater chance that the occupy thugs will riot at the DNC than the RNC.

I honestly don't see any inevitability here - for either candidate. Current poll data gives HRC the lead, but once you break down electoral numbers from critical states it appears to be tied.

Too close to call now. It can swing either way.

Or Trump is Texas and Hillary is OU ;-)

I think we'll know the outcome of this election long before it happens. If it comes down to the wire, I think Trump wins. If Hillary maintains a consistent lead of 5+ leading up to the election, she'll win. I knew Republicans were going to lose in 2008 and 2012 long before the election was held, as did many observers (especially 2008). I think this election will be even easier to predict, unless Bernie and the Republicans both get into the field, which would be...AWESOME

As a cynical Debbie Downer, I have little faith in humanity to withstand the massive propaganda barrage that will continue unabated during the campaign. Not to say that people who are against Trump are being brainwashed, but that those who are on the fence or not strongly anti-Hillary will do what the media instructs them to do. The media can swing 5 points, no question, and we both know who they are behind.

Trump needs to break the 4th wall to win this election. He needs to threaten and expose the establishment in a very serious way if he is going to win. People need to believe that Hillary is pure evil and part of the system that is ruining the country. Trump also has to figure out how to discredit the media for the general population the same way he has for conservatives.

Both parties are in deep (*)(*)(*)(*). That's what happens when our system allows us to pick two hated people as candidates for president. I don't get. Never seen anything like it.

Trump recognizes that white people are still the largest voting segment. So he is unabashedly pursuing the white vote, like Democrats are doing for Latinos and blacks. It is no more racist for Trump to do so than what Democrats do towards minorities. But, note that word "minorities."

I tend to agree, but I think the right needs to do more to get the East/Southeast Asian vote. There is absolutely no reason the Asians shouldn't be Republican, and I blame that on poor strategy. It's a small group, but I think it would be worthwhile and relatively easy to get, with some effort.

Trump needs a lot of white independents to win.

It was the same with Reagan. It was in the air. Everyone knew he would win. I'm not feeling this in the air yet. Maybe it's still too early?

It'll be easy to get Asians: Link Affirmative Action to the Dems, particularly their epic failed state of California. And ask Asians if they really believe the Democratic Party which continually denies them opportunity is the best party for the country?

It's way too early, and Trump will need to survive another five months of intense propaganda against him in order to prevail, among other things. I'm not anywhere near as confident as some of the other posters, but I do think Hillary is going to struggle to compete against him head-to-head. She isn't mentally flexible and can't say anything without poll-testing it first. Trump will be on the circuit daily, responding to people and engaging the country, while Hillary will continue planning and carefully controlling her media exposure. If Trump plays his cards right, he can definitely win.

I actually think Bernie is a much bigger threat to Donald, but I guess the Democratic machine believes otherwise.

Seriously. Asians, and I know many personally, resent the hell out of affirmative action, not to mention how many of them are outright racist. One of my ex-girlfriends, who is Chinese, once told me there were too many black people at one of the stores we were shopping at, and I'd never even mentioned race around her before lol. Republicans have failed badly on this one.

Damn! I want to see a poll like this done in other states.

The reason Trump won the nomination and the reason the GOP struggles with minorities: The GOP is weak on its arguments. All it took was "racist" and the GOP would shrivel. Not Trump. Trump throws his weight around.

That is awesome! Too bad that isn't a potential strategy.

Yeah, Trump has proven that it is better to completely dismiss their insanity and menstrual struggles with laughter, not serious debate.

The old GOP, before Trump, was almost completely worthless to anyone who wasn't a social conservative, and barely useful to them--I almost never voted for them, or anyone, but I'll sure as hell show up for Trump. Nationalists have always been the rational bedrock of the right, and it is quite satisfying to finally get a say of things (maybe). No more being a sex toy for corporations, and no more catering to the bible belt.

I think nationalists can do much better with most groups.
