Austrians have a lot of Slavic DNA.

Just supports that Eastern Europeans just don't fall for the Liberal multicultural stupor like Western Europeans do.

Unlike some who claim it's only a product of Soviet bloc, and, or poverty making Eastern Europeans more nationalistic.

No, liberals were not responsible for what we were dealing with now - mass refugees from the wars and break down of what was keeping the ME together nor were we responsible for the 2008 crash which still has Europe in recession, hence why people have lost hope. I don't know much about Austria but an Italian poster recently said that he believed that Austria had the right conditions whereby it might very suddenly turn to the far right. I think he said he thought they were the most likely country - or the most likely first country. We need though to remember how excited some people got at the idea of the Front National getting in in France only to be disappointed at the next round.

At the same time it is fascinating to see the fight for presidency being between a Far Right and a Green - how much further apart could you get. Let's hope it was just a protest vote for the Freedom Party and that the Green President can bring them together.

I checked out to find their Press Freedom which is Free but also noticed this

    https://freedomhouse.org/country/austria

Basically what they are talking about there is an unsaid agreement that politicians will put a 'Cordon sanitaire' around far right parties and not invite them into coalitions. Greece for instance did this with Golden Dawn. It is a safety net, not allowing them to have the opportunity to be seen acting politically -unless of course they manage to fool people they are not far right. ;)

The next few years are though going to be testing ones for Europe. Does she go the way she went last time she found herself in this situation - long recession and explosion of refugees, or does she manage to take what she has learned and move forward to something better including a new and improved EU Only time will tell.

What you call liberals who are what in Europe are generally known as left wing with a social conscience were in no way responsible for the wars which destroyed the States in the ME leading to the mayhem we have now and the desperate refugees....and Europe most certainly was not responsible for the crash of 2008 which has caused the on going recession. That was the US as is most of the responsibility for the destruction of the Me resulting in refugees.

(Now I will grant that Merkel has some responsibility for the amount of refugees last year but I am not sure she fits your description and it was just last year not ten years).

Europe is in reality suffering from the consequences of the actions led by the US and certainly nothing which Left wing Europeans with a social conscience are responsible for.

I'm not a far right person, but why does the left get to say that the rights opinions are evil and harmful?

I think both sides have good and bad traits.

The poster above who stayed thag Europe as a whole has basically black flagged far right parties says it all right there.

The left all around the world gets away with shutting down free speech at will. Anytime the right gain seven a smidgeon of power, the worlds left screams they are becoming nazis.

That right there is making the right grow more than anything else. Same reason whyTeump is doin so well in the states

The reaction to far right groups is a reaction to extreme xenophobia and its consequences which Europe remembers from the holocaust.

Ok, American liberals caused Europe's woes just like here in America.

It's cultural-marxism aka political correctness why the western world is so (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up today.

And yes, PC was behind the nation building attempt in the Middle East.

I may be remembering my history wrong, but I believe NAZI stood for.......National Socialist German Workers' Party. Which is not right wing.

Looks to me like they are most heavily impacted by Celtic, Basque, Italian, French, Saxon and Germanic genetics. Slavic appears only to lead the bit players:

It depends on the Starting point. Right wing in Russia and Austrian at one time represented those bent on preserving the Monarchy. In America it has always been those that staunchly support Constitutional Liberal Democracy which was a REVOLT AGAINST the most powerful Monarchy of the day. In Germany the NAZI's were National Socialists started as the German Workers’ Party bent overthrowing the the Treaty of Versailles.

The Austro-Hungarian Empire was a true example of native European multi-culturalism.

bear in mind folks, the R1a haplogroup is the "Indo-European" gene family that populated east europe, iran, central asia, and India.

it is VERY large and diverse, and has many sub-groups.

for example, I am an Ashkenazi Jew and am R1a (R1a1a) on my father's side. around 10% of Ashkenazi Levite Jews are R1a, which accounts for about 4% of the World's Jews.

    This is exactly my point.

They simply have had too many refugees in their country and they want to shut the borders.

Then to you left idiots all you can say is "they are xenophobes" and "they are bigots"

Get off your damn high horse, people have different opinions and your ARE NOT perfect
