Trump's supporters, grasping around for some straw with which to defend him, are busy redefining the word 'race'. "Mexican is not a race" they say, so therefore Trump is not racist. Thin ice you think? Actually that boat won't float at all as the word 'race' is being incorrectly defined by Trump's supporters.

Here is the definition of race from the smart people at the esteemed Oxford English Dictionary:

1 Each of the major divisions of humankind, having distinct physical characteristics:
people of all races, colours, and creeds

1.1 [MASS NOUN] The fact or condition of belonging to a racial division or group; the qualities or characteristics associated with this.

1.2A group of people sharing the same culture, history, language, etc.; an ethnic group:
we Scots were a bloodthirsty race then

There are other similar definitions in most of the online dictionaries. The bottom line is that yes Mexicans are a race, Muslims are a race. So based on this definition is Trump racist?

Here's what he said about the judge:
Here are other racist comments by Trump:

    Trump on Blacks:
    Trump on Mexicans:
    Trump on Muslims:

The only thing even remotely racist in those statements would be about the accountants, and that is somebody "quoting" Trump.

You people routinely question the actions and motivations of people in power, when they are white, and the people over whom they exercise that power are of color, but when a white dude says of an activist attorney, now a judge, who formerly made a career of defending illegal immigrants, and was/is a member of a racist organization (La Raza), "I can't get a fair hearing, he's Mexican", that's a problem for you?

I disagree with the earlier poster about race. Mexicans and Arabs are part of the Caucasian race. They are not separate races. They are ethnic groups with varied degrees of mixing with other so called races. A geneticist wrote that northern Europeans and Arabs are genetically more similar than Japanese and Southeast Asians.

To illlustrate, some of my ancestors are Fins and Sami reindeer herders. They were separated from other Europeans during the Ice Age and mixed with Siberians. Thus, I have blue eyes light skin and 14% Asian genes. The US tried to deport some Fins under the Asian Exclusion Act around 1906. The Swedes and others claimed Fins were Asian, not Europeans.

From what I have read, I have no doubt that Trump is a bigot and a racist, but Justice Sotamyer said the Supreme Court needed a wise Latina to provide a different interpretation to the law. Our founding fathers intended that the courts would rule only whether a question was legal or constitutional with out cultural interpretations. Using culture or other bias to interpret a court ruling is antithical to the intention of our founding fathers.

If Trump realistically assumes that the judge has a cultural bias from his association with La Raza related groups and with an organization which has contributed to Hillary's campaign, he should get his lawyers to ask the judge to recuse himself. It often happens. Trump was stupid to complain as he did. It made him look like a racist. I don't support Trump or any of the others. If I vote for him, I will feel I am participating in a mass suicide pact.

This accusation is so pathetic. Is that all you lefties can use the race card on everything, everyone you don't like. Is there any "real reason" people should vote for a leftie? Or can't you talk about that because you got nothing to offer so you divert attention away, have to hide behind the race card all the time?

I hope the next time any one of you are fighting for your freedom in court you get a real racist.

Would it be racist for a group of white engineers to form a group that is intended to further white culture, and maybe give scholarships to white engineering students? That wouldn't be racist would it?

You mean like a women's support group? No, that wouldn't be racist.

My favorite thing from Trump is when he talks about minorities. It's always comments like...

I love Mexicans, I give them jobs, I sell them homes, I eat a taco bowl.

It's just hilarious. He loves power, as long as he can use minorities to benefit him he's all good but definitely would not like a "Mexican" (who's actually an American) telling him whether he's wrong or not.

In trumps first comment about the judge he specifically said his being Mexican had nothing to do with his critique.

The left thinks if they tell a lie often enough it will become reality.

Democrat and the media's fixation with the race card .... they can't talk about anything else but. Why? Because it works to distract.

It's what trump said and he was very clear.

Because Paul is playing for his political future does not change the fact that trump said the judge being Mexican did not matter.

The judge isn't a Mexican. And Trump said a lot of things. I'm glad you take his word on that one statement though, lol.

trump brought up the lawsuit and brought the Judge's ethnicity into question. The guy was born in Indiana which he was told dozens of times.

trump has been using race to fire up his base supporters this whole election. Minorities can see trump very clearly for what he is...that's why they're overwhelmingly going to be voting against him.

trump will be lucky if he even hangs on to the angry white guy vote at the end of this whole trainwreck of a campaign he's pretending to run.

I can't wait until election night. I want to see how many trump supporters will finally clue into the fact that they got conned....lol.

Not according to standard dictionary definitions and common usage. I've posted the OED in the OP. If you don't like that look at the relevant section of the Cambridge Dictionary:
    Macmillon Dictionary:
    Merriam Webster:
It is Trump supporters who've redefined the word 'race', not the left.

Let's have a close look at who exactly Trump is talking about here, and who he is not talking about here. Let's take it sentence by sentence. In the first sentence, he is talking about people who Mexico sends, and he has excluded "Mexico's best" from the people who he is talking about. This first sentence clearly shows that Trump was not commenting on "all" Mexicans, just the people who Mexico sends who are not also not Mexico's best.

Ok, next sentence. "They're not sending you, they're not sending you", sounds like it is open to interpretation, but the one thing we do know is that he is not talking about Mexico's best, or all Mexicans.

The next sentence really narrows things down as far as who he is talking about. "They're sending people who have lots of problems, and they are bringing those problems with us." Here, he has narrowed down who he is talking about to people Mexico sends, who are not Mexico's best, not all Mexicans, and who are bringing problems. His grammar is pretty screwed up with the "us" thing, but it does not appear he is intending on including "us" as who he is talking about.

This next part is not describing who he is talking about, but tells us some of the "problems" of the people who Mexico sends who are bringing problems. "They're bringing drugs, They're bringing crime. They're rapists." Those problems that this isolated group of people who are not Mexico's best, not you, not all Mexicans, and who have problems sound pretty bad, so I am sure glad that Trump brought these things up.

Last sentence: "And some I assume, are good people." It was pretty generous that Trump added this on, considering the kinds of problems that this isolated group of people are bringing. He just assumed that some of these people who Mexico sends who are not Mexico's best, not you, not all Mexicans, and who are bringing such problems are actually good people! What a nice guy.

If a person suggests that Trump is a racist, based on the above quote, they would have to be a racist to do so. Trump certainly said nothing that suggests that that all Mexicans have any of the above problems listed in his quote, so if somebody were to read or hear the above quote and assume that he was talking about all Mexicans, Mexico's best, you, or legal immigrants who are not bringing problems, the racist assumption would be on him, not Trump. Doug, your OP was racist. How racist of you.

Do you think that this judge is likely to find the racist Trump guilty in the Trump U case?

I believe many of the litigants will get money back because they were conned. Just like the litigants in the trump financial suit got their money back.

So you feel that this judge will likely rule in favor of the folks who are suing him?

Well except that Mexico isn't 'sending' anyone are they. And Mexicans who do cross over aren't rapists are they.

I don't know, I am simply clarifying who Trump was talking about, and who he was not talking about.

Does crossing over refer to some spiritual thing with dead people? If you are talking about Mexicans who immigrate to the United States, I would not be surprised if some of them were rapists, but I do not know. Rapists probably exist in all cultures and countries.

    Indeed.

And any comment they don't deem as PC is instantly deemed as racist.

It's a good system they set up for themselves, isn't it?

Meanwhile, the extremely racist and anti-white National Security Advisor Rice says the National Sec agencies are "too white."

I suppose we should all be glad she isn't running for president.

It looks like Lee S has quite the heavy hand with the mod censorship. This thread might be a nice link in the future for those who feel that the heavy hand is biased toward the left or the right. It is worth noting that libchick is on the left, and I am on the right, so we have seen that the heavy hand was not directed toward either the left or the right in this case.

Hahahaha! Trying to pass off a nationality as a race is quite a reach. You had to really take many leaps to reach that conclusion. Fact is Mexican is not a race. Get over it.

Uuum. Mexico allows people to be transported to and through their borders to ours. They allow migrants from southern countries a free pass through Mexico to the US. They turn a blind eye, so Mexico is sending their worst to us. Nothing Trump said is a lie or racist regarding this subject. He never once said all of any race are
Inferior, so by definition, NOT racist.

Nice try though. Golf clap. Keep tossing those race cards. I wonder if the MSM treated Hillary in the same fashion calling her a liar 24/7, because she's a proven habitual liar. But then, she's their new pet project, like Obama was. Bring on another AA POTUS.

Is it racist to love Mexicans, give them jobs, sell them homes, or to eat a taco bowl? Wouldn't it be racist to criticize somebody for loving Mexicans, giving them jobs, selling them homes, or eating taco bowls?
