Fed up with gun violence in America? Take heart from the fact that an NRA tax filing reveals a decline in membership fees by a whopping $47 million.

As one gun measure after another dies in Congress, the National Rifle Association may seem like an unbeatable juggernaut. But now, it’s looking more and more like their days are numbered. The Trace reports:

The National Rifle Association’s (NRA) New York state financial disclosure forms for 2014 are now online, and like past years’ tax filings, the documents provide a rare glimpse at the organization’s inner machinery. The group’s total revenues fell from more than $347 million in 2013 to roughly $310 million. Contributing to the decline was a drop in income collected from its members. Revenue from annual dues fell from $175 million to $128 million in 2014, a drop of 27 percent.
Really, no one knows how many members the pro-gun group has. They’ve never allowed any kind of head count from outside parties. In 1998 a former board member told reporters the NRA’s membership rolls include “lifetime members” who’ve died. Ooops.
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As I said, the NRA would pay a high price, if they didn't separate themselves from yahoos, bundy revolutionists, KKK, Sovereign Citizens and the mentally ill.

The chickens are laying a roost in your face. As I said, regain the mantle of safety instruction and controlling ill conceived controls, while inputting on common sense controls.

The exodus has just begun. Act now, and save yourselves.

Oh, and I have one too, and you guys are screwing everything up.

And now SAF has nearly .75 million members, GOA now has over 1.5 million members, NAGR now has over 4.5 million members, and there are many more gun rights/lobbying groups out there. A lot of these groups have been criticized for not being as lenient & compromising as they say the NRA has been.
I don't see the NRA disbanding anytime soon, but if the left wants to sink the NRA; they'll get more groups that will likely be more staunch.

Look in the mirror. That's a delusional idiot you see there, with a physiological fear of firearms. Smoke some weed and chill out. Oprah will be along shortly.

I have to admit that when they endorsed Trump, I let my membership lapse. I'm sure a lot of people did the same. I have since renewed as a result of California's new anti-gun laws. I have kept my membership with NAGR and Calguns.

If Hillary gets elected, you can expect membership to increase significantly.

You also appear to hate the NRA because they help elect politicians who in addition to being pro gun, apparently are hostile to your lifestyle

when I first started training to make an Olympic team at age 16, the NRA was the NGB for Olympic Shooting. So i have had a life membership ever since

I also have life memberships in USPSA, NSSA (skeet) NSCA (sporting clays) ATA (trap) SASS (cowboy shooting) and annual memberships in USA Shooting (which is the successor to the NRA as NGB). I part of the "committee of a thousand" of the SAF.

Yeah well, if there was a better candidate than Trump, however, between Trump & Hillary, Trump is a better choice.

NRA raised their dues, so some may not be able to afford it. If the Dems get in and the SCOTUS gets stacked NRA can only do so much anyway. Hell, Bloomberg could afford to buy them and shut them down.

no chance of that. Democrats of course want the NRA to go away. The main purpose of Gun control is an effort to get rid of the NRA and its support of pro-freedom candidates. That is why the NRA is constantly being attacked by all sorts of left wing special interest groups-from Feminist radicals to the gays

My cousin (the one who hunts) is a member of the NRA. He only bow hunts and doesn't even own a gun, but he likes guns and gun stuff. :)

The problem is that not all gun owners can ever agree on all gun issues, there are those that love their one niche, and would gladly give up all the others, IF they were allowed to preserve their own special Gun niche free of any further gun control encroachment.

I used to meet lots of Trap & Skeet shooters that did not believe in CCW, Semiautomatic rifles, handguns, and legal machine guns, blaming the NRA for being too hard core, and not endorsing so called "Sensible Gun Laws."

I DONT BELIEVE IT IS. It is topical, and it is as I explained it.

I didn't even hyperbolize the title.

. Excuse me, I stand corrected. You are just a delusional leftie who owns a gun. The key word here is delusional, if you think the NRA is going anywhere. Historically, membership has fluctuated with the severity of the threat. Like you said, a string of recent defeats for the banners encourage some to get complacent. Introduce a bill that gets any traction, to ban modern rifles, and see what happens.

I foresee the assault weapons bean being reinstituted. I foresee bullet limits, and quick changes being slowed. Now mind you. I don't care about all that, as I wont be affected, but still my warning was good advice in general. Clean up the image of the NRA. Do good.
