No one this go-around is defending Bush II. Trump is trying to take over the Republican party from those people.

Actually for most of its history the Middle East has been a sleepy, apolitical backwater. The Brits rewrote the map in 1916 with the exception of Saudi Arabia.

Hey, it's Iranian money, it doesn't belong to the banks. Iran knew the US was going to renege on the deal and wouldn't pay up, so to keep America on the straight and narrow, they used a little electronic wizardry. The sailors ended up in Iranian waters ...and our reputation has remained intact.

There are still losers who defend what he did. I argue with them on a regular basis.

Sunnis from what I gather, have a supremacist attitude and must be above the other sects. I guess the Alawi are Alawites which is the sect Assad belongs to and they are very liberal... and the closet to Christians, as well as the Alevis in Turkey. Some even say that they are Crypto Christians. I read there's a secret movement in Turkey, maybe with the Alevis because I read that with the uprising of the Kurds. many of them are trying to get back to their Christian roots.

Why are you dragging this bogus story onto the boards again? According to Human Rights Watch, the sarin attacks on Syrian civilians was delivered by Soviet-era surface-to-surface artillery rockets, the M-14.....which the Syrian forces had in their possession but not the rebels fighting the Assad regime.

The entire region has been destabilized for ages with the Iran/Iraq war, Israel/Palestine conflict, Arab/Israeli wars, troubles in Lebanon, various civil wars, conflict among terrorist, groups, revolutions, fighting among religious groups etc. I don't buy into that crap about America being the root cause of everything....even though you like to think so.

Although they are fellow Sunnis, ISIS would indeed support attacks on the Saudis....which they hate and charge with forsaking Islam. Saudi Arabia in turn wants to destroy ISIS.

It's not that ISIS wouldn't want to attack Iran...although they might in the future... they seem to have success in areas with a supportive Sunni population and none exists in Iran. Were ISIS not facing the combined military wrath of most of the nation's involved in the Middle East conflict, Iran would be experiencing a much different reality than they are today.

I didn't say anything about America. I'm talking about the US government that you worship. Sad that you cannot see the difference.

And it's a fact that ISIS emerged as a result of the invasion and occupation of Iraq. Either you can deal with the facts or remain in denial. Your choice.

They have a funny way of showing it. The entire ISIS ideology is based on the Wahhabi school of Islam. And the Saudi government has been sending money and weapons to the rebel terrorists in Syria. Saudi Arabia is the biggest terrorist factory in the world. And they're our "ally". Just shows you how stupid and corrupt the US government is.

LOL....It goes without saying that I wholeheartedly reject your perceptions, ideas or opinions as it relates to this country and of the conclusions you hold concerning my own views of them. Deal with that!

My perceptions, ideas, and opinions about this country are the same perceptions, ideas, and opinions as the founding fathers. So if you reject them, then you are essentially rejecting the idea of America. And that doesn't surprise me. You seem to think worshiping the US government is the same as being a good American. But this country was founded on an open distrust of government authority and foreign influence. It's amazing that you present yourself as some kind of American patriot while disgracing almost everything the founders stood for.

The problem is that most westerners are so ignorant about Islam and Saudi Arabia that they will believe anything.

Observe good faith and justice towards all nations; cultivate peace and harmony with all. Religion and morality enjoin this conduct; and can it be, that good policy does not equally enjoin it - It will be worthy of a free, enlightened, and at no distant period, a great nation, to give to mankind the magnanimous and too novel example of a people always guided by an exalted justice and benevolence. Who can doubt that, in the course of time and things, the fruits of such a plan would richly repay any temporary advantages which might be lost by a steady adherence to it ? Can it be that Providence has not connected the permanent felicity of a nation with its virtue ? The experiment, at least, is recommended by every sentiment which ennobles human nature. Alas! is it rendered impossible by its vices?

In the execution of such a plan, nothing is more essential than that permanent, inveterate antipathies against particular nations, and passionate attachments for others, should be excluded; and that, in place of them, just and amicable feelings towards all should be cultivated. The nation which indulges towards another a habitual hatred or a habitual fondness is in some degree a slave. It is a slave to its animosity or to its affection, either of which is sufficient to lead it astray from its duty and its interest. Antipathy in one nation against another disposes each more readily to offer insult and injury, to lay hold of slight causes of umbrage, and to be haughty and intractable, when accidental or trifling occasions of dispute occur. Hence, frequent collisions, obstinate, envenomed, and bloody contests. The nation, prompted by ill-will and resentment, sometimes impels to war the government, contrary to the best calculations of policy. The government sometimes participates in the national propensity, and adopts through passion what reason would reject; at other times it makes the animosity of the nation subservient to projects of hostility instigated by pride, ambition, and other sinister and pernicious motives. The peace often, sometimes perhaps the liberty, of nations, has been the victim.

    --George Washington

That's exactly what I believe about foreign policy. Empires are the death of a republic. The entire point of declaring our independence was to be free of the shackles of foreign influences. But anti-American faux patriots like Kabosh want Americans to be responsible for the entire world like some kind of glorified nanny. I don't want to be responsible for Europe's collective security. I want to be responsible for America's collective security and nothing more. Because unlike Kabosh, I love America much more than I love Europe.

Iraq was never stable.. We couldn't even control the highway between Baghdad and the airport...

Bush had already set a timetable to leave and there's no way our soldiers could have been under the jurisdiction of Iraqi courts. Maliki was absolutely a poor choice, but we never really had any exit strategy.

Nonsense, Bush's timetable was based on vastly different criteria than Obama who campaigned on just pulling out of Iraq. Any blood is on Obama's hands and Hillary's hands. It must take a strange sub-standard intellect to accept the major denial of blame that Hillary/Clinton refuse to bear and to solely blame Bush.

I don't care if I get traction with you. I'm perfectly fine discrediting you in the minds of other people.

That's funny because when I was in Iraq in 2007 we were trying to rid the Sunni Triangle of AQ, a year before Obama became the President.
