Yes; that is how it turned out. What I felt was important was what Bush said at the time. I heard it as a radio announcement one afternoon while driving home but remember it clearly.

Prior to the war, the Bush admin certainly hoped that the war was short, fairly easily won, so grateful Iraqis would gladly pony up to defray war costs.

That however is not how it turned out.

I assure you Bush had no intentions to train any opposing forces in prison.

Actually General Franks as well as others consulted the Arabs first. Maybe nobody told you, but they gave the green light. Even the King of Jordan was in on the deal and let Franks stage forces in Jordan.

So, you never would hope or expect a country awash in oil might gratefully pay some of the bills?

Well, you know those ungrateful arabs better than I do.

No they didn't.. None of the oil majors showed up to bid on Iraqi oil concessions because the country was too dangerous even after the war...

Only this past week did BP, Lukoil and Shell show up to bid on Iraq oil ... and this is 2016.

Bush was a flop as an oil man too or he would have known that Iraqi production would collapse and stay in the crapper for 13 years.

No they did not beat us there?

Well, maybe the press lies about things like that.

I recall the very high bids on the crude.

Compared to many in the oil business, Bush was not in it for very long. I do not believe he speaks as if he is a super informed oil man.

You certainly love running President Bush down.

I don't think you reported any things you believe he did well.

I wonder how you can back Hillary given her failures and Obama's failures?

So its a 'scientific theory' that $100 Million was spent on the cleanup when
DU dust found 26 miles from the Plant that was 'theoretically' closed down

WOW Soupy ! - you bust some unique moves !

.85 lbs of DU dust a month is spilled in NY - Out comes $100 Million for cleanup
Uncounted TONS of the (S)(*)(*)(t) are slathered all over Iraq - NO PROBLEM - diesel fumes

Of course they don't. But some of their leaders dream of regional - at least - domination.

Western leaders don't understand the Middle East. The Middle East leaders don't always understand the Middle East.

They all seem crazy to us. They strap a bomb on and go into a night club, they decapitate journalists and send the video home. We think they are absolutely crazy.America has occupied the ME for decades...long before 9/11. If we wanted to crush Islam, we certainly could have in numerous ways.
The US will be up the arse of the ME until the crude runs dry.
And I am a fiercely patriotic American who thinks Muslims are CRAZY. I'm also a smart, observing American.

What? Are... Are you serious right now???? Jesus Christ dude you prove again and again that you not only have never even steped foot in the middle east, but that you don't even have the basic knowledge of ANYTHING that has ever happened there. Bidding on Iraqi oil contracts started almost immediately after the US victory in 2003. The first round was a bit of a flop since only BP agreed to Iraqs concessions but since then there have been 4 more separate licensing bid rounds with over 50 different companies from over a dozen nations taking part from 2003-2016.

You seriously think that only BP and those other 2 have bid on Iraq oil since 2003 only just now in 2016? This is literally crystal clear, irrefutable proof of how absolutely clueless you are, and you should honestly just walk away from this forum in embarrassment and shame after this one.

Here. This link completely disproves the absolute horse(*)(*)(*)(*) you just tried to spout. What a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing joke lmfao.

    http://www.mideasti.org/content/iraq’s-oil-bid-rounds-politics-and-pitfalls

Also their oil production has been far from "in the trapper for 13 years." Since the war in 2003 it has seen a rapid and steady increase in production and efficiency and in fact this year production is record breaking

Morality is a social construct completely contingent on your time and geography.
I believe we exploit their only resource and we militarily occupy the Middle East. And as I said before, I think we will be there until the crude runs dry.
It puzzles me that posters here say to Americans....that's mean...haha.
We play to win. And if that hurts your widdle feelings, we don't care.

People need to sit with Muslims and over time ask them the hard questions.

Like, what do you believe about Sharia?

    Do those beheadings disgust you?

Frankly, I have yet to meet a coward Muslim and they confess every time.

An industrial accident and war are apples and oranges.

Once agIn you have failed to show any empirical or scientific evidence that is ordnance caused any long term health problems.

This fact in turn makes your accusation of a us war crime a proven lie.

Pretty sure the person you posted this to already knows this.

    Stop being naive.

Our government has purposely empowered Muslim terrorists and continues to seek that goal by overthrowing Assad in Syria.

No one who is against Muslim terrorism supports the U.S. government, which has been ISIS's strongest ally. Your argument completely misses the boat.

We don't want them in the US.
Those beheadings make me happy we are raping their resources and occupying their land.
And if the rest of the world was so offended by what we're doing, they would intervene. Nobody does anything.
Personally, I would have gotten a lot of Small Pic from the CDC and snuffed the region out. The biological weapons we have could decimate. Nagasaki, Hiroshima. We are not an adversary you want to challenge.

It only makes sense after you realize both parties are purposefully working to empower the Islamic caliphate to create a worthy adversary for the next world war.

Democrats even used the terror vacuum argument to oppose the Iraq War. Then they did the same thing. Twice.

There's no question what their strategy is.

That sectarian violence did not occur in a vacuum. Much of it was a direct result of the US government's invasion and occupation of Iraq.
