My quick answer, is NO. For a more elaborated answer, it's still NO. While it is indeed virtuous and even logical to to repair, if possible, harm that has been done, I completely reject the entire archaic concept of collective, racial, cultural and historical guilt some people believe should exist. To me, this is totally illogical and has it's beginning in biblical OT text about the passing of sin down generation, which I also reject. There is no such human right as to expect any kind of recompense simply by the mere chance of relationships one has no control over.

I will help other because I believe in universal kindness and compassion for others but NEVER because some fool is trying to lay a guilt trip on me.

I'm not sure where you're going with this, but in a general sense no, I don't think you should be held personally responsible for actions taken that you had nothing to do with, we all live in a world that is the way it is based on past actions. So we can't escape the results of past actions, even if you're not to blame for them.

Well, it brings to mind Restitution, some folks claim there should be restitution for the evil of slavery, these people are not the original victims, and the original slave owners are dead, so none of the original folks involved are alive, in my case, both sides of My family came to America long after slavery was abolished, so nobody in my family owned slaves.

I agree. One should not be punished for mistakes made by those in the past.

It's not that simple. Here's an example.

A person kills your whole family, stealing everything they have, and gives it to me. The murder/thief dies. So do I, but I willed all that property to my children. But for this, it all would be yours.

It is a well established principle of law that a thief can not convey title. Do my children get to keep it? My children did nothing wrong and you never actually had it. But it was stolen and stolen by murder for which otherwise it would be your's. So my children are rich and you're a pauper by my relative murdering and robbing yours. You ok with that?

There have been cases like that in history, and I can't say it seems OK, however if I could see evidence that there was truth in the claim, I would do something to help, and since a will can be amended, I would do as much as possible, ill gotten gains and all that.

Hmmm well established law that wealth etc gained through persecution of others cannot convey title ie. if your position in society was gained via your ancestors persecution of others and their position is detrimental due to that persecution then that wealth etc cannot be conveyed to you as it means you have profited by illegal means so if any of your ancestors were slave owners it can be argued that their wealth etc was gained through illegal means which also means you cannot profit from those gains, where as the descendants of the slaves whom your ancestor owned can claim against you for their loss ... not even sure if there is a statute of limitations on this.

That means all the white immigrants coming from countries that had nothing to do with the slave trade, and who worked hard labor jobs to feed their families are responsible for the actions of a small minority of white people? Should American force people who immigrated from India, Jamaica, Thailand, Russia, Poland and Italy to pay restitution from their tax dollars to compensate a majority of Blacks?

I don't necessarily reject a claim .. but, it should not be assumed to be right and just without going through the legal proceedings on an individual basis.

Perhaps I should explain. The phrase "ya'll" is colloquial to the southern states in the US, meaning "You All." It is also a code word (depending on the context) that indicates a "collective accusation." That idiom, (ya'll whites) is pejoratively used mainly in black communities, inferring a collective guilt.

I don't believe it should be a collective guilt, each case should be judged on it's own merits.

You are NOT responsible for things which you do not possess. And others are not responsible for things they do not possess. Each is responsible for what each possesses.

You are not responsible for another person's possession. If they possess anger, You are not responsible. If they possess greed, you are not responsible. If they possess kindness, you are not responsible. If they possess unforgiveness, you are not responsible. If they possess hate, you are not responsible.

Women have no problem judging men as a gender that oppresses and continue to oppress women which this isn't the case.
If don't like it vote to get rid of all the laws feminism has gotten the past 100 years.

The White Man came to America, and dispossessed the various Tribe Nations, rounded them up to live on designated Reservations, how was that right ?

If your ancestor was a Gangster, Frank Nitti, and a descendant wanted to become a NYC Police Officer, an Investigator cannot disqualify that candidate.

I heard of one case like that, a candidate was disqualified for ( undefined moral turpitude ) ie relatives in crime etc.......

I had it successfully overturned when I proved the real reason behind the disqualification.

The sins of the Fathers are not visited upon the Sons.
You are responsible for your sins alone.

People can expect anything they want, if they try to use force an issue arises. I have never agreed with reparations and despise the notion of apology for ancestor's actions or lack thereof.

The Bible takes a different perspective on this.

But then again, to be able to understand the justice in that, you would have to understand the true reality of human nature and what people actually deserve.
