You don't understand how to read polls. If you say someones numbers are collapsing that is not a statement about their overall lead. it is a statement about where their numbers are at. Do you understand the difference? Her poll numbers have been rock solid at about 45% since they started polling. Trumps numbers are the ones that have gained then collapsed and gained and collapsed again. If you make a statement that someone's poll numbers are collapsing that means their numbers are going down. That hasn't been the case for HRC.

Averages are not as accurate as you think especially when you are talking about time dependence. An average of polls over a period of weeks does little to tell you the present state as the oldest poll has the same weight as the most current.

Averaging is also useless in filtering out systematic error. Take measurements from a graduated cylinder. The error is almost always positive so no amount of averaging can remove it. Averaging as a means of removing error assumes a normally distributed error. This is often not the cae in real world statistics. Averaging is a childs tool when it comes to statistics
