Got towed once, then a second, few days, few months for repairs? It's like an old pickup truck, first the brakes, then the tranny, rear axle, complete motor job next:smile:, just turn it into a museum like the USS Missouri.

The crew are probably hoping it doesn't spring a leak, does it have cables for the jets?

There is no further information on Admiral Kuznetsov's towing incident, except for the Ukrainian source in the OP. Admiral Kuznetsov is part of the Russian Northern fleet battle group which is on a mission to attack terrorist targets in Aleppo. The commander of Russia's flagship Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier, Sergei Artamonov, said via video link that the ships are presently in the "designated zone... in the eastern Mediterranean" and "are now jointly carrying out tasks, maneuvering to the west of the Syrian coast."

With such a big diesel engine,
China will cry about air pollution.
The crew should wear dust mask or something just to prevent the snot becoming black.
With such a big effort,Putin is really Assad's puppet.

First of all, rhe Russians air craft carrier wasn't towed.

SOP: When you put warships into a battle situation you deploy fleet tugs. The Russian navy was able to do it and after President Clinton's over down sizing of the military in particular the U.S. Navy, we no longer have armed fleet tugs, crewed by navy sailors to support naval surface warships.

It was Admiral Nimitz who reclassified the fleet tug as a warship.
From WW ll. the Korean war and the Vietnam War fleet tugs played a significant role in the U.S. Navy until the Clinton's administration over downsizing of the U.S.military

The Russian navy deployed a fleet tug for a reason. SOP.

That old Soviet-era bucket ought to be a museum by now, that's for sure. It's understandable that Russia's navy is to some extent in that condition yet, given the economic upheaval they suffered in the 90s and the slow climb up they've seen since. Naturally, they've had to prioritise spending - they can't just print all the money they want the way the US can and run up a gargantuan national debt, after all, nor should they. I imagine more has gone into modernising the rest of the Russian military, the ground and air forces, which are definitely more important to Russian national security.

The entire Russian navy (sans submarines) is underfunded and outdated. It should be expected that older machines will fail and this is what we see.

I'm pleased you're not in charge of anything important. What a disaster that would be! You need to get educated buddy.

U.S. Navy Impressed with New Russian Attack Boat
    https://news.usni.org/2014/10/28/u-s-navy-impressed-new-russian-attack-boat

One of the U.S. Navy’s top submarine officers was so impressed with Russia’s new Project 885 nuclear attack boats that he had a model of K-329 Severodvinsk built for his office.

Rear Adm. Dave Johnson, Naval Sea Systems Command’s (NAVSEA) program executive officer (PEO) submarines said he had the model of Severodvinsk placed outside his office in a common area so that he could look at it every day on his way to his office.

“We’ll be facing tough potential opponents. One only has to look at the Severodvinsk, Russia’s version of a [nuclear guided missile submarine] (SSGN). I am so impressed with this ship that I had Carderock build a model from unclassified data.” Johnson said last week during the Naval Submarine League’s symposium in Falls Church, Va.
“The rest of the world’s undersea capability never stands still.”

Neat....One(1) member of the U.S. navy is impressed with One(1) of Russias boats. I take back my comments concerning the other couple thousand boats based on this guys comments and that cool little ship(sic) This combined with pictures of a U.S. ship being tested are obviously more than enough for me to be deathly afraid of the Big Bad Russian Navy.

This tanker. Barge with fuel oil and the "Admiral Kuznetsov". And hoses to pump fuel. :roflol::roflol::roflol:

Gross incompetence. But I'm not surprised.

Smoke because the ship running on fuel oil. But the "Admiral Kuznetsov" - more than 25 years.

Black smoke over the San Diego: newest battleship USS Freedom US warms up the engine.
