The comments I've seen from Trumpists and right-wingers on the prospect of CA secession mostly seem to be along the lines of "Don't let the door hitcha where the good Lord splitcha", a sentiment which strikes me as monumentally retarded. If CA secedes, its independence will certainly be a sham, and the absolute best case scenario is that it will become a province, de facto or otherwise, of Mexico, rather than of Russia or China. To forestall such an unmitigated disaster, here's what I propose: pursuant to 8 USC § 1324, the President should direct his AG to seek indictments against every CA official who is in violation thereof, followed by vigorous prosecution to the fullest extent of the law. This will likely lead to insurrection within the state, which should be ruthlessly suppressed - better a few thousand lives now than a few million later. Thoughts? BTW, while the idea of unilateral secession being constitutional is nonsense, it's also off topic here, and all attempts to steer the discussion along such lines will be reported.

I'm not one to welcome Calexit. If it happened, it would effectively be the beginning of the end of the United States. Also I'm not much worried about it either. If the proposal moves along far enough to make it to a referendum, someone is going to run the numbers and realize it's not affordable. However...if they still want to make a go of it, could they take Puerto Rico with them?

First thing Trump needs to do is to enact a law to make it a 10 year federal offence and $25,000 fine for harboring, aiding and abetting illegal aliens. Now, Trump is kinda stuck. If he lets CA loose, then the news is 'Trump gives CA away.' If he sends in the national guard to reclaim it and throw the illegal aliens out, the news calls him a Hitler. Obama had it a lot easier. If you built a life here and are illegal then kiss it goodbye. After they work on CA, the militia fans out across the USA, state by state. But they can't leave CA unsecured when done, the CA traitors have to be removed from office or they will just let the illegals back in. When your states governor comes out, saying he wants to strip federal funding o Sanctuary Cities, when he is showing he doesn't know the benefit of Sanctuary Cities, in regards to making them legal and reinventing the US immigration and naturalization process, it shows your governor was hit pretty hard on the head when he was little. I am with Ace of Spades in his blog. Don't hate them, we just need to divorce. Their values and ours are so different and so irreconcilable as to not be bridged. We just need to extend the border wall to the north to wall them off so the Venezuela type disaster they will experience (socialism is never sustainable and certainly their desire to import huge numbers of poor, uneducated foreigners who impact their welfare programs will help with the demise). See if that "sixth largest economy" built largely on 1s and 0s and entertainment that restrains development of natural resources, in favor of "green energy", dislikes traditional manufacturing operations in favor of "clean" industries and that starves the farm industry of water to save minnows is really sustainable.
