Oh wait. You mean when he was at his confirmation meeting and was asked he met with the Russians, he was supposed to answer that honestly?

Indeed, one Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III seems to have either forgotten or deliberately mislead folks on something a bit important.

While this administration seems to conveniently and constantly claim no ties to Russian nor Russians, man, they sure did talk to them a lot and then lie about it.

    What Sessions said.

“I have been called a surrogate at a time or two in that campaign and I did not have communications with the Russians.”

Liar, liar, your britches are aflame.

Then-Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) spoke twice last year with Russia’s ambassador to the United States, Justice Department officials said, encounters he did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow during Sessions’s confirmation hearing to become attorney general.

One of the meetings was a private conversation between Sessions and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak that took place in September in the senator’s office, at the height of what U.S. intelligence officials say was a Russian cyber campaign to upend the U.S. presidential race.

The previously undisclosed discussions could fuel new congressional calls for the appointment of a special counsel to investigate Russia’s alleged role in the 2016 presidential election. As attorney general, Sessions oversees the Justice Department and the FBI, which have been leading investigations into Russian meddling and any links to Trump’s associates. He has so far resisted calls to recuse himself.

You really should actually read the transcript and not the condensed version on the Compost.

The hook on which the Post attempts to hang Sessions is that he did not disclose the meetings to the Senate when he was asked about “possible contacts between members of President Trump’s campaign and representatives of Moscow.” Sessions’s spokesperson at the Department of Justice, Sarah Isgur Flores, says his answer in January was truthful because he was asked about “the Trump campaign — not about meetings he took as a senator and a member of the Armed Services Committee.”

The Post does not provide the full transcript of the question, from Sen. Al Franken (D-MN), and Sessions’s answer. Instead it summarizes the exchange in a way that makes it seem that Sessions was asked if there was any contact at all between the campaign and representatives of the Russian government.

You do realize he was a Senator and a member of the Armed Services Committee right?

Yep the Franken question was about the "Dossier" not having any contact what so ever from anyone from Russia.

This is just hilarious...I made a prediction here a while back that Flynn, Conway and Spicer would be canned soon...Now I get to add Sessions...One down, three to go...

So you have a 25% predictability score. Not exactly something to brag about.

You think meeting with ambassadors is wrong as a politician in an official capacity. So, what's good for the goose...

Simple answers seem to allude the progressive mind. Sessions, as a senator can and should meet with Russian officials. No? Yes?

The context of the question was campaign folk having inappropriate contact with Russian officials.

And now, clearly, you can see the disconnect between the facts and the hyperventilation. Liberals are witch hunting based on hyperventilating breathless accusation, and the facts are being ignored because they are convenient to ignore.

So, when Sessions answers the question, he assumes he wasn't a part of the campaign, and answers from the perspective of the intent of the initial question. So, he says he didn't. If the comedian from Minnesota has some other evidence, now would be a great time to produce it.

The most important part of the story is that liberal media are so aghast at the positive energy being exhibited in this country and economy, they fear having any future leverage at all, so, we get these stories, splashed across the media as an excuse not to have to report on things like the DOW smashing 21K yesterday. Because the financial health of the economy and improved enthusiasm in this nation cannot be tolerated by the left.

Truly, it's fascinating watching liberals and the media try so desperately to quash the nation feeling better about itself and it's prospects.

To those who do nothing but yell fake news, and then have the nerve to cite brietbart, which is obvious fake news, just stop already. Nobody buys that. That is nowhere near a factual, intelligent response. The fact that is all the Trump administration can say in defense, and you guys just repeat, I think shows the validity of this.

You guys are just embarrassing yourself and proving everybody right when all you can say is fake news. Give it a rest, nobody is buying it

Be hypocrites all you want, you call for all these investigations into Hillary based on complete nonsense you made up, pissing away millions, and you have the nerve to claim we should not investigate something that has tons of proven facts that Russia meddled in our election and has relationships to Trump, someone who has praised Putin constantly, said he loved Putin, and who even said please hack Hillary.

You guys were outraged and impeached Clinton for lying about a blowjob, but now trying to defend Sessions who has committed perjury. His defense is he never met with the guy. Since this administration does nothing but lie, nobody is buying that defense

Speaking of which, the word you are trying to use is elude.

When you are going to march in here with stupid, juvenile, partisan insults implying, or in this case stating, I am less intelligent than you due to your perception of my political philosophy it helps to use the right (*)(*)(*)(*)ing word.

Allude means call attention to. Elude means escape or avoid.

He was asked directly if he had ANY contacts with the Russian government in his written questions, there was zero pigeon-holing about him being a part of th campaign. Which, by the way, he endorsed Trump last February and was an "advisor" for the campaign when he met with the diplomat. So, this flimsy excuse about him not having been apart of the campaign is laughable.

Can you explain how a transcript and video showing a line of questions is "fake news"? Then you do nothing but attempt to derail the thread with off topic drivel.

    Must be.

Top Republicans said Thursday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions should recuse himself from investigations of whether Russia interfered in the presidential 2016 election at the Justice Department and FBI.

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy said during an appearance on MSNBC Thursday morning that Sessions should bow too maintain “the trust of the American people.”

Minutes later, House Oversight and Government Reform committee chairman Jason Chaffetz joined McCarthy’s call, tweeting that “AG Sessions should clarify his testimony and recuse himself.”

Oh. Slapped down by reality! Man, humiliation by citing facts, exposing the genitals of ignorance to the world.

Indeed, the rabid and blind defense of Trump in defiance of blatant facts cited in the thread seems, well, unseemly.

The desperation. The breathless hyperventilation. Tis truly a thing to behold.

The very likely outcome of this behavior is the alienation of the US public. It seems remarkably self defeating. Perhaps this is the best reaction democrats could take for the rest of us.
