Funny that's exactly what Dr Carson came from and became one of the best neurosurgeons in the world, you would think most in the intercity would like to know how.

He did and that's amazing. It's also completely unrelated to the point. All you've done is demonstrate that Dr Carson is an outlier.

According to the Journal for Blacks in Higher Education, "blacks who complete a four-year college education have a median income that is near parity with similarly educated whites. According to the most recent statistics, the nationwide college graduation rate for black students stands at an appallingly low rate of 42 percent."

Poverty rate is still high as well. I explained the education portion for you already though. You got your highs and lows backwards, and I wasn't ranting. I was shooting straight with you.

You're right that blacks are making progress in education, but unfortunately it's not what it seems. The racial roadblocks stopped over half a century ago, you're gonna have to find something else to blame because "racism" isn't cutting it anymore. That card played itself out a few years ago.

    Let's put this to rest.

    http://www.historyextra.com/qa/slave-labour

Were American slaves ever paid for their work and, if so, how were they differentiated from employees?

"Generally speaking, slaves enjoyed few material benefits beyond crude lodgings, basic foods and cotton clothing. Still, some plantation slaves were able to earn small amounts of cash by telling fortunes or playing the fiddle at dances. Others sold poultry, meats and liquor or peddled handicrafts. In some cases, slaves could earn money from their master if they performed tasks with particular skill.

The masters, for their part, saw small cash incentives as a way to encourage productive work habits. In the towns, cities and manufacturing areas of the Upper South, slaves were able to earn money thanks to another way to manage labour: the hiring-out system. Contracts differed in terms of food, conditions and treatment, but most slaves hired out to work for others could expect to earn wages for working beyond what was considered a working day. In the tobacco factories of Richmond, Virginia, for example, they would complete their daily quota of work and receive ‘bonus pay’ for anything after that.

Some were also allowed to hire themselves out. Brokering their own deals, they paid their masters a monthly fee and kept anything they earned above the amount. Wages varied across time and place but self-hire slaves could command between $100 a year (for unskilled labour in the early 19th century) to as much as $500 (for skilled work in the Lower South in the late 1850s). Skilled cabinetmakers and joiners could sometimes earn as much as white workers; a select few could even afford to buy themselves out of bondage.

FFS, it's hulls. Not holes. They weren't chained up in holes, that's physically impossible. And no, they probably weren't chained up in hulls dreaming about great opportunities their descendants would have while they were on their way to America in a ship. They were probably confused and wondering why the hell their own countrymen captured them and sold them into slavery. They probably dreamed of a better future for all of their people once the day was over and they were laying down to catch some rest.

Your numbers are from 10+ years ago. as of 2013 the graduation rate for Black students was 46.8%. Again, improving.

The government roadblocks were removed. It will take generations to remove the social and systemic roadblocks.

It was written specifically for freed slaves. Deflect all you like, it has nothing to do with today's immigrants.

Lol, really? You say "some do, some don't" and then you post a picture of the only famous white rapper? Nice job. And WTG, you used bigotry completely out of context, AGAIN.

Really? Is there such a thing as "THE" ass end of this conversation Superbad? Here we are in 2017 and the Black community is still talking like it was just yesterday their moms and dads were chained to a tree! To the average teen, hell to the average old guy like myself, I haven't a clue what the average Black dude is crying about! I suppose I could complain about my ancestors mistreatment in the old country and in the U.S. but most of us with origins elsewhere simply pulled up our big boy pants and moved forward thru life!

So your ancestors got slaved, well bro, you aint alone! It happened all over the planet on every continent, in fact your own ancestors trade and sold slaves to one another until they finally herded them up and sold them to white slave traders! It was an excepted form of commerce, and if you want look at it in a positive way, be glad to be last! Look how much leverage an ancient form of commerce has benefited the African! As a Italian I clearly have slavery in my past but I haven't received a single penny for it! My great great grandfather was hung 15 miles from Cheyenne robbed and stripped of his boots, horse and colt by Americans, and his wife and children never compensated! All that crap in the past is just past, can't change it just fills life holes is all.

Like I say, being the last gave the African the leverage of guilt that others like the Irish didn't get! The problem isn't the leverage it's the choice in which was used! Sadly that leverage is reaching it's freshness date, younger people are far less sympathetic to things fifty years ago let alone a hundred, to be honest I feel the African community gambled a huge advantage on a group of old Southern Democrats that will now and forever never release them from their grip of control, not that I'll be around to say "I told you So" ;)

Supremacists in your opinion, not in real life, and not by definition. Definitions should be important to you in the middle of a debate but they're not. You're making up your own for every label you throw out there. In this country, the percentage of known white supremacists is 0.0018%. I was wrong when I said 15. You think everyone from Breitbart to Fox News to Trump supporter is a white supremacist, or a supremacist and that's factually, extremely wrong and inaccurate. There are 6,000 KKK members out there. They didn't even all throw their support to Trump.

That could very well be, but if she would have been born in Africa instead of America then she could very well be living amongst the wild animals there and fending them off her children, instead of thugs in the hood.

I think he meant after they got here. Don't you think they hoped their children and grandchildren wouldn't always be slaves?

You know there do exist people who enjoy living in Africa, right? I mean, not every single non-citizen of the US is secretly hoping they can come here permanently.

    Thick as a brick.

Some rappers do. Some don't. Some rappers ARE NOT BLACK.

    Your stereotype fail.

Oh, please. By your count, again, there are a total of 5940 supremacists in this country and then you say there are 6000 kkk members. YOUR NUMBERS DON'T ADD UP.

You don't know what or who I think is what. I assign the label based on actions and words and yes, associations, when those associations are for personal gain. You don't have to join the KKK but when you attend the meetings, spread the literature, and light the cross you are, in fact, one of them.

Ok my bad. I didn't realize that when I looked at the link. My point still stands that it's not what it seems though. No grad rates are what they seem, not for blacks, not for whites. Students are being shipped off to college with little to no knowledge. It's not their fault the teachers and education has failed them to get ahead themselves. In fact, I heard this morning that NY is looking to remove reading as a requirement to be a teacher there or something like that.

Bucko, it was proposed in response to issues related to former slaves following the American Civil War. You can read about that anywhere. Keep. Deflecting.
