I highly doubt they knew who purchased them. The only thing they knew at that point was that their own countrymen captured them and sold them. It's not like they had cell phones or internet or newspapers to know what was gonna happen once they reached America, a place they likely didn't even know they were heading to. I mean, unless there was a slave that escaped bondage and swam the Atlantic 3,778 miles back to Dakhla, Africa to warn his region about what lay ahead if they're caught and sold/traded/bartered. So unless that happened, those people weren't thinking about Christians capturing them. Sorry man.

Good God man, is there anything these people have excoriated Trump or his administration on that their own people haven't done or said??? It used to be funny to point out but it's gotten outright pathetic and repulsive lately, their double standard.

America is a nation of legal immigrants, even the 'native' americans lawfully immigrated here from asia on the frozen ocean.

slaves were involuntary legal immigrants under the law of the land at that time.

They weren't even considered as human, so how would they be immigrants?

They were considered as property, no different than horses or cattle.

The point is they came here as property, not immigrants, so they were not immigrants. You are clear that property itself can't be an immigrant, right?

You want to call those poor slaves property rather than concede they were human? Go ahead but you look foolish.

Blacks and liberal whites with much more education and common sense then you have, have no problem using the word immigrant to describe the blacks brought to this continent as slaves.

If you need help researching the subject, let me know.

Why should I? I'm not the one stupid enough to claim for sure it means only one thing.

I see you ran away from the reality Obama also called them immigrants. What a shocker.

That's comparable to the dummies in Texas who want to refer to slaves in school books as guest workers.

BTW Genius, the error was made by McGraw-Hill the publisher in Columbus, Ohio. I'd be careful who you call dummy when you couldn't even get that right.

Perhaps he did based his rhetoric with this prevalence nowadays.

Some of America's most vulnerable workers are victims of modern-day slavery, and the government knows it. What's worse: These workers are protecting U.S. military and economic interests – but the U.S. isn't protecting them.

In its annual Trafficking in Persons Report, released Friday, the State Department acknowledged that trafficking and forced labor still exist in America. The report includes several examples: abuse of third-country nationals trafficked to work on military bases, migrant domestic workers subjected to forced labor by diplomats and international organization personnel, and temporary guest workers in a variety of industries forced to work under horrifying conditions with nowhere to turn. While it's important that the report stresses there's more the U.S. government can do to stem trafficking in America, it offers nothing new and recycles much of its findings and recommendations from past years — recommendations that still haven't been fully implemented.

It seems that he could still link immigration with slavery.

Does Obama have anything in common with American blacks whose ancestors were slaves?

What do I need to be outraged about.

Oh everyone forgive Ben Carson because Goo.............I mean Guavaball says Pres. Obama said it first. LOL
