Beyond reproduction why has our Creator / creator designed us
for sex as such an important part of our lives as humans?

A near death experiencer has written up insights on this that I regard as some of the most insightful that I have read in my 57 years.

Did you know that there is a theory that the Roman Catholic Church decided on a policy of supposedly celibate priests and nuns partly to stop women from pretty much controlling the church?

Yes.... in the fledgling Messianic Jewish and Messianic Gentile community of the first and second century.... church took place in homes........ so if the woman of the house really disliked somebody.......
who the local bishop thought the world of......
who do you think would win out while church was in homes?

Often the woman of the house would win.....
unwelcome guests in the church / home...... were indeed persona non grata so......
this is one of the reasons why the Roman Catholic Church adopted a policy of taking church out of homes.... into large cathedrals..... and attempting to force "celibacy" on the religious leaders.

Otherwise..... women would have ruled the church...... and policies like The Spanish Inquisition would not have been such a likely option!

sorry seems lame, very lame, the catholic church (meaning universal church) was a church of the state and was organized as and to be "the" religion of the Roman empire. hence they were commissioned by the state to bring all the churches within the state's influence under one umbrella, the catholic church. plus there was to be no other gods and religions so on and so forth, as was executed through out the years. as far as celibately of the priesthood that I do believe don't hold me to it, is a result of the roman rite taking over the church. so time back. I do believe St. Gregory the great was celibate seeing he was the first monk to be assigned the position of pope by the emperor. so such thinking may have started there, he did establish things like only clergy could be in charge of church matters because in his day laymen were corrupt and corrupting the things of the church, and much of the rules the roman catholic church follows today he established also.

but there are catholic sites that have that information. but the reason for pulling out of homes is simply because they didn't have to use people's homes they were sponsored by the roman emperors therefore public worship wasn't to be feared and you can't invite strangers into homes, but you can invite anyone into a place set aside for teaching and preaching the Gospel.

even as resent as the 70's the catholic church used to have the policy of leaving the doors open or unlocked to the general public 24/7. not so much today.

But what about the Apostle Cephas / Peter?

Do you think that he was celibate?

    Matthew 8:14

"And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife'smother laid, and sick of a fever."

    Mark 1:30

"But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her."
