interesting development, what Muscovy tries to achieve ? everyone understands that Assad doest have an army , and he does nothing without Kremlin approval, and much like downing Malaysian jet over Ukraine , Muscovite regular army must be involved its just too complicated (analog) systems for the local terrorists , what will be Trump reaction ?

    "
The Syrian army said Friday it shot down an Israeli plane and hit a second one as they were carrying out pre-dawn strikes near the famed desert city of Palmyra.

"Our air defence engaged them and shot down one warplane over occupied territory, hit another one, and forced the rest to flee," the army said in a statement carried by state news agency SANA. "https://www.i24news.tv/en/news/isra...rens-two-loud-blast-audible-in-jerusalem-area

That Israel did, for sure does and will do raids and actions inside Syria if in their opinion necessary is well-known ... as it is well-known that Israel gives a crap on anything if they thing their security is in bad danger due to whatever!

Don't forget that Syria still shot down in 2012 a Turkish F-16 deep into their territory and the weapon abilities to shot down jets again are given back by Russia to Assad regime.... if not directly manned by Russian soldiers who use same systems under own flag too.
And that both sides shot on each other is since years the case....

    Well litwin ...
you are right that after 2012 the formidable military of Assad melt down and lost majority of weapons and abilities, but:

it is not only so that Russia is inside the country with all kind of weapons, they re-armed the Assad Forces again with modern equipment. in other words... lost Air Defense abilities of Assad military is back since Russia delivered them new equipment. Also is enough left over who is able to handle the systems as well are enough well trained Iranian volunteers and Hezbollah fighters part of Assad Forces too. So no idea who here really shot and we will never find out in my opinion.

When the Syrians need to bring down Israeli invaders they have the means to do so. This is an attention-drawing ploy to illustrate Israeli aggression to the world at large.

The Israelis admit that they attacked. That's rare- and that's the question that needs answering for us civilian observers.

My question, who you're going to blame for everything after Putin retires?

I thought Israel was going after arms shipments to their enemies? Looks like they may be getting into the fray to help take down assad, for if they were going after isis the Syrian army would not go after them. Why would Israel want a radical sunni state in Syria?

That Israel and Syria under Assad have always been enemies, everyone knows. But not everyone knows that Israel was anything but thrilled by the Arab Spring! Why? Because it creates too many unknown folds and layers and that too quickly!
With the beginning of the civil war, Israel has a lot of trouble because of its security, because Assad had a strong army with modern weapons and also some WMD's. Israel's concrete concern was, and is, that Assad loses control over these things and the wrong people are falling into their hands. Concrete: Worst case = ISIS conquers a few dozen poison gas grenades and / or extensive weapon systems.

And we all know that Israel is merciless about corpses and all international law matters when it sees its own security seriously endangered. When Saddam in Iraq and later Assad in Syria secretly thought of building a nuclear power plant, the parts were quickly ruined by Israel!
From this basic thinking, the Israelis bomb rather everything in a foreign country flatten before any danger arises, Whatever the reason for the attack is now and whether no matter whether the Syrians shot off or not ... it was not the first and it will not be the last time that such things happen!

However, I'm surprised about the location Palmyra, which is fully in the fought ISIS area.

Let's not be quite so flagrant in attempting to rewrite history.
Israel bombed an almost-completed CIVIL nuclear power-plant in Iraq- and set in motion the events which led to the Iraq war. It was calculated. At least 5,000 Americans died- over 100,000 disabled. Only Israel Firsters could possible think that bombing Iraq was a good idea.

The Turkish plane was sent into Syrian airspace, with the intent of getting Nato's backing to establish a no fly zone. Turkey said the plane was in international waters, but it was proven to be otherwise. What I read later on in Hurriyet, is that the jet had a faulty navigation system, and the government was being sued by the parents of the two downed Kurd pilots. What the outcome was I don't know, since it was never mentioned again. When I read later on that almost 200 pilots quit the air force, I couldn't help but wonder if they were Kurds.

As for Israel, after Turkey shot down the Russian jet, Russia said that any plane entering Syrian airspace without permission will be shot down. Well Israel did, and they almost lost six jet. It caused a panic in Tel Aviv, and the next day Netenyahu and two Generals paid Putin a visit. He gave them permission to enter the areas they considered a threat to their security.

Because a Sunni state would split the Syria/Iran alliance. When Israel thought that Assad would be overthrown and Syria split up ...(as they had planned), they were going to give Assad and the Alawites the Golan Heights so they could be a buffer between the Sunni state and Israel.

Things changed drastically with the entrance of Russia into the fray. Moscow needs the security of the Shia crescent to separate the extremists in the Gulf states, from their own moderate Sunnis. So the battle is really between Russia and Assad maintaining their connection with Iran, and Washington's 'deep state' desire to drive a Sunni wedge between it. The Alternative to a Sunni terrorist state, would be a Kurd state... thus the US support for the Kurds.

Yes, both Hezbollah and Iranian shiias provide a huge support to Assad, but it mostly foot solders, all high tech they can get only from Muscovy . Even Chinese guys are very careful with Assad... man we talk about very, very nasty regime , war crimes, genocide, etc.

Oh you mean Obama? You're right it was a nasty regime, that's why we kicked him out. The genocides by the terrorists we supported, and by the Nazis in Ukraine was just too much for Christian America.

As for China, they trust Assad as does Vladimir Putin. It takes an honorable man to support minorities as he does against such powerful and formidable enemies.

According to the Duran Israel did not attack a convoygoing to Hezbollah, it attacked Syrian troops to boost the morale of ISIS. They are being defeated by the Syrian forces at Palmyra and they are getting close to retaking an oil field.

What I wrote about using the Alawites as a buffer in the Golan Heights, goes back to the beginning of the war. At that time everyone thought it would be over in two weeks. It doesn't have any relevance now but it did then.

    Nonsense Jeannette!

NATO had with this issue in 2012 nothing to do and you make the common mistake in your general blaming against NATO again! If any NATO member does whatever, then it is NOT automatically a NATO issue! Any NATO member is independent in his own foreign decisions and can do what it thinks! A NATO issue is only given, if a foreign state/ country attacks unreasoned a NATO member (means this member does not attack the other country before) and if this NATO member calls for help!
Here, we all know if not being total idiotic and arrogant that Turkey and Assad's Syria hated each other since ever! When Arab Spring broke out (and no, this was no Western CIA or whatever mission, this is only mentally BS if claiming it) Turkey saw the chance to come over with this hated Assad regime and provokes Syria!
And it was Turkey alone who declared a non fly zone inside Syria at Turkish - Syrian border and not the NATO! Turkey backed this with humanitarian reasons in matter of saving the refugees at the border against Air attacks from Syrian forces. Totally unreasoned this was not, but according to international law illegal ... or did the UN security council order this? No!
And that you did not read much later is clear, put under carpet as usual. We all saw, see and know what this incredibly dictator Erdogan did all too: Shall I tell again this incredibly issue of the Cum-Huerriyet journal? A convoy of some trucks with weapons and ammunition for the Syrian Rebels was stopped by Turkish police and justice and the drivers arrested. So far so good ...
Problem: The drivers were of Turkish security service. Only news in Turkey who really reported about and using official photos only etc. was Cum Huerriyet.
Result: The police officers, the prosecutor and the journalist are jailed and the accusation is: "Betrayal of state secrecy and support for terrorism!"

Shall I remind you to your own Anti-Turkish postings you did too so often? Why here suddenly silence from your side please?

And about Israel ... as told: They give a crap on everything if they see in their opinion their safety in serious danger and this since ever!

Sure, Moscow is delivering the weapons, simply because they back their own dictator who is for sure bloody and nasty.

    BUT

The USA does not better.. or do you really think that Saudi Arabia is better? Isn't it interesting when the US is accusing and blaming Iran for all kind of human rights and things due to Sharia law they use as law ... but that Saudi Arabia is doing right all the same things is ignored?
Isn't it interesting that the focus is only of actions in Syria as for example Aleppo, but that Saudi Arabia is doing right the same in Yemen is ignored and Saudi Arabia forbids any sort of investigation about?

Was Iraq really allowed to build the reactor by international law and do you really trust Saddam not to use for a nuclear up arming?
Anyway ... no matter if you are pro or contra Israel, we all know that they give a crap if they see their national security in danger and acts then!

Any words about the secret reactor which Assad build up with North Korean help?

Yes, Syria deserves to be attacked. The govt I mean. Assad.

Syria are butchers. Hezbollah is a pack of bloody mass-murdering terrorists. So Israel bombs Assad's weapon supply to Hezbollah... and we're supposed to be bothered by that?
Yet Israel has also attacked the IS. WHY would Israel seek to help the IS? That is paranoid insanity at best.

The Assad regime is a longstanding enemy of Israel. They arm Hezbollah terrorists. So Israel attacks Assad. No mystery here...
