I wouldn't sign any player if he wouldn't stand for the anthem or disrespected the country.

He is a backup who can compete maybe for the starting job. He cant get a job for that reason. No coach wants to take on the headache for a backup QB. Tebow is out of the NFL for the same reason. If you want to create a media circus you better be good enough make it worth the coache's time. Nothing is more valuable to a coach than his time. There are only so many hours between games and no coach is going to spend even 30 minutes of that time talking to the press about his backup QB taking a knee during the national anthem.

There is a lot more going on than we are told. Alex Smith should never have been traded to begin with. Colin did well at first but apparently teams playing him figured him out. Now he is ordinary if that.

As a loyal 49er fan, what made me so ill was how he disrespected the entire team, his fans, etc. by kneeling and making it a huge deal. It spread to other teams.

Why would anyone take on that baggage? The NFL is hard enough without hiring a jerk who offends most of your fan base.

Yep once those DCs get film on you things get a lot different. Kap isnt very good at working through his progressions. He didnt come from a very advanced passing game at Nevada. Chris Alt is a hall of fame coach but passing savant he is not.

I have no idea who that is, but I'm sure it's his fault.

(I can't believe another word for Summer's Eve got bleeped.)

George had the greatest arm connected to the biggest sphincter in history. One of the first to completely "jerk" himself out of a job, after leading the NFL in offense at Minnesota. What a dunce.

Its also a buyers market for QBs right now. There are a lot of serviceable borderline starter QBs on the market right now which will drive down the price. Kapernick wants way too much money and too much guaranteed playing time given the QB market right now. His ego ia going to price himself right out of the league

Football is a business. Having someone on your team who upsets your customers (fans) is bad business. Only if that someone is sooooo good that he can bring a Superbowl Championship to the team will his flaws be overlooked.

He is good enough to get a team to the Superbowl? I think not. So he's destroyed his career.

    Yeah! Murica!!!

Honestly, who gives a **** about standing for the national anthem. It's a complete waste of time at a domestic sporting event. Kaepernick wouldn't even have a medium to protest in the NFL if patriotism wasn't shoved down everyone's throat.

It's ridiculous that people hate him so much over this.

He's somehow a garbage QB but Josh McCown, who's now on his 11th team since 2002 still has a job? Over 12,000 passing yards, 72 TDs to 30 INTs and an overall QB rating of 88.9. Also, I'd point out that the play of him and the 9ers in general seemed to fall off once Harbaugh left the team, they were 44-19-1 in his 4 years as a coach, 2 playoff trips and a Super Bowl berth. Since then they've gone 7-25.

But like many have said, what's he asking for in terms of a contract?

No less than 5 mediocre or less talented QBs were signed to teams in free agency i.e. they have jobs and yet nowhere the talent nor winning records as Brady.
