    You hope.

Nothing need collapse unless a major nuclear war is started, and countries have learned that that is NOT an option.

The EU is doing fine, coming out of a major recession just as is the US. Unemployment is lessening - slowly, slowly. But, the economic signs are all positive.

Eat your heart out ... ?

    All is well then.

From my perspective the EU is going to lose relevancy. Like the UN has, to just fade in importance a little. Treaties made elsewhere.
    Solutions sought elsewhere.

It is very likely that it will. A few years ago Barrosso and a couple of other people in Brussels foresaw this situation and tried to reform the EU. But the EU did not respond with any concrete action. I think the EU doesn't want to reform, doesn't know how, doesn't care, doesn't even understand why it should. It's too late for the EU. Doesn't matter if it survives for a few more years since it has lost all credibility. Its reputation with the people is simply too bad.

    Hardly a cogent reply ...

I think it will not fall apart without the desire of the peoples of Europe
