Belly up to the bar and take a load off, folks! This is the place to get away from it all. Plenty of hot coffee and cold beer  with a little hard stuff for those times ya just gotta have a snort!

Talk about anything EXCEPT politics and we'll all get along just fine. Everybody is welcome here.

Pull up a barstool and join the party.

What am I doing up at 3:53 am, you ask? Storms moved thru about 2:30, lost power. By the time I reset my clock, was wide awake. Check with me after lunch and see if Im still upright. :(

We had planned a trip to Texas this week but things just kept coming up and the weather in Texas was one issue. The last time we went it was overcast and rainy not much fun. This time I was looking for sunny days. Guess we will have to try another time or not.

Chocolate cake for breakfast? Research says it's good for both your brain and your waistline.....

File this one under "studies we would definitely volunteer for:" New research says eating chocolate regularly can actually improve brain function.

We're willing to bet that's not the first time you've heard about a study touting the benefits of chocolate on your health. A few years ago, researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel reported that eating chocolate in the morning – yes, every morning – was found to help people lose weight, despite long-held beliefs that chocolate is one of those occasional splurge foods that dieters must resist in order to achieve their weight-loss goals.

The biggest takeaway of this research, according to study leader Dr. Daniela Jakubowicz, is that eating a higher-calorie breakfast in the morning reduces cravings throughout the day and prevents late-night snacking.

So next time you're thinking about that chocolate cake looking all lonesome on your counter, sleep on it – and indulge in the morning. Your brain – and your waistline – might thank you......snip~

The problem exists that studies are trendy. There was a time when
eating a nice big breakfast was roundly agreed a good way to start the
day. That's how Lumberjacks start their day.Just watch the movie
with Paul Newman { also Directed } :
    - Sometimes a Great Notion - { 1970 }
Then there was a trendy time when eating a big breakfast was
considered not good.Just like the way Coffee has been accepted then
discredited and then now accepted again.
Which brings us to the Only real Truth ...
The only thing for certain in life is Death and Taxes.
Oh ... and Miss Smarty's Bar & Grills

My Grandmother who was the Matriarch { boss } of our Family
and also my Cousins had an apple every day. With her Tea w/lemmon.
She made a good chop suey and also was traditional as far
as knowing the proper way to fix a roast. Also stuff like Meat Loaf.
Where you use a thick heavy metal grinder and grind the meat by
hand. However she was like my Mom.Liked her meat well done.
    Like Mother ... like daughter.
My Mom was a really good cook.Except when it came to stuff like
Hamburgers. She made them too fat and burned them in the cast iron
skillet. Those were on the nights the old man was on the road as a
salesman. My Old man would not tolerate his meat even medium.
    It had to be Rare.

My mil's kids use to ask her, 'What did you burn for dinner tonight?.
First time I heard it I was confused till she cooked a dinner for us. I actually said to her, how did you get this brown gravy? She said, I burned the chicken and then add water. Didn't taste too bad. Course I grew up eating eel in red wine vinegar, snails in gravy and tripe.
