I think she used to use a Zippo with lighter fluid 'till it became a flashpoint with Ike.
I often wondered if that Zippo was the spark that lite the lyrics for this song.

You sound so happy! Very cool and it couldn't happen to a nicer guy.
Im smiling thinking this. You are such a nice guy. So slow to get riled up. One time Flounder and I were talking about something and Flounder said to me something like, For God sakes, if it upset Subby it took a lot.
    Ahahaha So true.

Doesn't California look so 'new'? First time I went to California the first thing I noticed is everything looked new and Yogi was on the grocery bags telling people what to do in an earthquake.

A 6pk of Bud, a bag of Fritos and instructions if the ground starts shaking.

Screw that. Im a hearty well prepared yankee. I already got beer and Fritos and know how to run like hell or duck with chunks of concrete coming at me.
    Know what I mean, Subby?

Heh, you didn't read your bag. What Yogi tells you is not to run! ;)

In a strong quake, people often run outside. But walls generally collapse outward. So they get crushed.

I've been in three bigguns. When I was a kid, during a large quake, my dad came running to our rooms to get us into the hallway. As he was running, it was like a large wave passed through our house. He said one moment he was on his feet running, and the next moment, the floor hit him in the face.

That's amazing. Did you guys get hurt? I cant imagine it.
Yeah I did read the bag. I cant remember everything on the list. The one that I never forgot was stand in a door jam. That seemed so odd. Kind of like standing in a bathtub during a tornado.
Ive never been in an earthquake. Do different plate movements make different reactions?

My dad was slightly injured. More than that, he ran across a hot floor heater barefoot! He had waffle feet from the heater grid. :D

Interior walls will likely survive even if the outer walls collapse. Small closets, door jams, bathrooms, and hallways have small areas support by two, three, or four, interior walls or frames. Door frames are reinforced so they ten to be safer.

I've been in 3 big ones and probably a couple of dozen smaller ones. I also happened to study some geophysics in college. It is all quite fascinating! How the energy moves through the earth depends heavily on the composition of the soil. Sandy soil is the worst. You can have liquefaction, where the soil acts like a liquid and destabilizes the foundations of buildings. It tends to absorb the wave energy and convert it into large motions. Interestingly, a solid rock surface is best. The energy from the waves tend to pass through rather than creating a lot of motion - what brings down buildings.

One thing people don't realize is that the Richter Scale, which indicates the magnitude of a quake, is logarithmic. So that means a quake measuring 5.0 is ten times more powerful than a 4.0. And a 4.0 is ten times more powerful than a 3.0, etc. So when we start talking about 6.0 and greater, we are talking about quakes that are thousands or tens of thousands of times more energetic than the smaller ones we normally feel in quake country. I've been in a 7.1 quake. Wasn't sure if the house was going to make it. It is a seriously intense experience! But I was also on the 5th floor of a large apartment in a 5.5 or so and that was scarier. The entire building could be felt swaying.
