What it means is that many on the left are unhappy they could't stack the court to support the goals of the left and legislate from the bench.
Where Gorsuch will fall is yet speculation... he seems to be a careful jurist that carefully attempts to apply the provisions of the Constituion from an originalist interpretation, which I would argue sets a guiding standard that if not liked by the majority of the people, can be amended using the provisions of that very document, a document for governing I would argue, is the best vehicle for governing yet devised. It protects all... even the left.

    Giggle, sure you don"t......

The Fox tried really hard to get the Grapes, finally, when he could not get them, he muttered; those Grapes were likely Sour anyway....

    Gun Control advocates always cry
"Sour Grapes" over Gun Control failures.

And you are also more likely to end up dead, killed in a Black Market deal gone sour.

In the end, people are going to make the choice - every day - of what laws they are going to obey or not. There is no law, anywhere, that prevents someone from choosing to ignore the law. I've seen you respond to such comments by saying things like "Well, why have laws in the first place?" but in asking that you're missing the point.

As a society, we accept that we need laws in place; if nothing else to outline the basic morality we, as a society, expect our citizens to conform to so that they may enjoy the benefits of being a member of society. We don't have to like all the laws but all honest citizens accept laws, some they like and some they don't, so that they can have the protections society provides. This, however, ends when society starts trying to enact laws that create infringements on critical human rights. A free society cannot allow restrictive laws - especially laws with questionable effectiveness - to be accepted as policy; not without giving up the very idea of being a free society. Some people mistakenly believe in a "freedom from" mentality, thinking there is somehow a "right" to "feel" safe, and thus they think that stripping guns from honest citizens will somehow prevent criminals from breaking the law. Well, there is no "right" to feel safe. You have a right to take responsibility for yourself (the very core definition of Freedom) and as such you have a right to Life AND a right to defend your life with the most effective tools available.

Gun control does not make society safer. It makes the society less free, and as such is utterly unacceptable in a truly free society.

    yip.

I sold most of my guns back 20 years ago when my daughter was born, not for safety, but because I needed to raise capital to buy a house in a good neighborhood, all private sales, all legal, went smooth as pudding.

I've since gone back to buying again and I'd very much prefer that If I decided to sell my stuff that I wouldn't be forced to take 50% of retail by selling to a dealer or something stupid like that.

in other words: I'm ok with private sales.

No, actually I do not support gun control. "Gun Control" is a political philosophy; one that I find fatally and fundamentally flawed. It is wrong-headed, focusing on laws and regulations that unfairly restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens in a way that brings no benefit or improvement to public safety.

I acknowledge that we do need laws establishing what punitive measures can be instituted against those who misuse firearms, but I do not define any of those laws as "gun control" since they focus carefully on those who actually commit misdeeds with firearms, not upon the law-abiding citizens or the legitimate tools they have a right to possess.

You support gun control. It is not a political philospohy like conservartism or liberalism. It is laws designed to keep guns in the hands of law abiding and sane. And you support this fully.

No, "gun control" IS a political philosophy. It is a belief in passing laws that restrict the rights of law-abiding citizens in hopes of affecting the actions of criminals, and it is a philosophy I disagree with. I am respectfully asking you not to try and align me with a belief system I oppose fundamentally.
