You have a carrier strike group which will link up with naval vessels already in the area, but the submarine fleet deployment is never tracked as they depend on stealth.

Once the Carl Vinson gets there, my guess would be about 14 surface ships east of the Philippines and two submarines within 500 miles of North Korea.

The Submarines are about as lethal as any of the surface ships.

 

And yet nowhere in that video do we see Trump saying "we're sending the USS Carl Vinson to North Korea"

Who cares number one. If it was a "lie", then it was in the same spirit as detectives lying to a suspect, in an attempt to learn more information.

Number 2, since Trump has repeatedly said he'd not "Telegraph" his intentions or upcoming actions, militarily-wise, one should have assumed out the gate that a bit of misdirection may have been afoot.

 

His statements had the desired effect. Subterfuge and misdirection. This is exactly how the commander and chief should handle the military. Our enemies should never know for certain what we are up to or if we are bluffing or not. I used to want to vomit when Obama broadcasted exactly what our military would be doing on tv, telling the world exactly when we would be pulling troops out, etc.. There should always be a large amount of deception in our military strategy.

 

I personally don't recall Trump saying anything except "we'll see." Trump never tilted his hand. You're basing your reality on MSM, big mistake...

His supporters need to recognize that.

I doubt they are able to do so...or they wouldn't be Trump supporters in the first place.

When I read the story, I was happy. Starting a war might be a help to Donald Trump...but it would not be of much help to the world.

I suspect we are going to go through these kinds of things from time to time while the buffoon is at the helm of the ship of state.

Trump has "telegraphed" his intentions, just so embarrassing for him that he could not be bothered to communicate with the US military's Pacific Command. He has probably been too busy playing gulf while entertaining his daughter's guests discussing conflicts of interest businesses.

The US military's Pacific Command has now explained that it had to complete the training with Australia, and that the strike group was now "proceeding to the Western Pacific as ordered" and should arrive near the Korean Peninsula early next week.
