As most know, there was a lawsuit filed by Bernie Sanders supports against the DNC after the e-mail scandal that ended with DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz being fired/resigning and promptly hired by Clinton. In the latest release of the transcripts from the hearing, here are some highlights. Shortly into the hearing, DNC attorneys claim Article V, Section 4 of the DNC Charter—stipulating that the DNC chair and their staff must ensure neutrality in the Democratic presidential primaries—is “a discretionary rule that it didn’t need to adopt to begin with.” Later in the hearing, attorneys representing the DNC claim that the Democratic National Committee would be well within their rights to “go into back rooms like they used to and smoke cigars and pick the candidate that way.” http://observer.com/2017/05/dnc-lawsuit-presidential-primaries-bernie-sanders-supporters/ I really wonder why a major news story like this that effects everyone, but especially Democrats is not being run 24/7 on the major networks. Instead we hear about Trumps budget and Russia.....REALLY.
After the primaries it's no surprise in that, but I am more surprised and quite shocked that this isn't major news everywhere.
Most likely it isn't "big news", b/c it is ANCIENT News that affects nothing. The DNC is, essentially, irrelevant in an off-year. Hopefully they get their act together in time for 2020. Just WIN, baby.
It's not irrelevant. It needs corrected and now is the time to correct it, not when you're going into and election year. If the DNC wins this case and can pick whomever they want Democrat debates are now pointless. They will simply walk out the person they are backing and say.....vote for this person if you're a real Democrat. I just can't believe Democrats are fine with this.
As long as the DNC figures out a way to WIN the POTUS election in 2020, I couldn't care less about how they accomplish that end. Just WIN, baby.
This is totally a civil matter with limited newsworthiness. The DNC can select candidates any way they choose unless they embezzle funds from donors based on a published set of rules and act in violation of those rules. IMO, donors who were victims and just not simply "Bernie Sanders supporters" have standing to sue. Progressives chose to hijack a major political party instead of rallying around a brand of their own making. Who were they trying to fool and why does their deception give them rights ,,, and why should anyone care until a ruling is handed down?
Until they made statements like the ones I quoted above I would have agreed. Once they start making statements like that though it should become a major news event. One of the two major political parties in the US just gave all of their constituents the finger.
Corruption at the top of the political system shouldn't be that surprising. The only difference is that Republicans are better at hiding it than Democrats. Although the Democrats did manage to keep a parasite from winning the primaries...
Bernie whupped her in some states and she got the delegates. Lil Debbie got caught sandbagging Bernie and was fired. The fix was in from the beginning and the whole Dem primary was a sham and a fraud and a waste of time and money. All you Bernie dupes who thought your vote was being counted ought to be a little upset especially if you gave him money thinking he might have a chance - money down the toilet.
Now that's an interesting spin on things. I wonder if donors could get a refund? I mean, Article V Section 4 doesn't read like an ignorable suggestion... It sure seems that way. Uh, they have a published set of rules. Article V Section 4 is a part of those rules. So did they act in violation of those rules? Sure appears that way to me. Then again, I'm not a lawyer, so what do I know? I was thinking the same thing. I mean, talk about racketeering and corruption... And yet we will not hear a peep from the mainstream media. So it goes... Actually, I'd broaden it even further. Anyone who thinks that organizations are obligated to follow their own rules should be upset by this situation. But you're right, those with skin in the game should be especially outraged. This is unacceptable.
