But I think the part where he said the Russia pressure thin is lessened because of the firing is the bigger issue.

Hard to draw conclusions from just the snipets. Trump maintains Comey informed him that he was not the subject of the Russian investigation. That revelation, and Comeys removal did likely make Trump more comfortable in engaging in Russian foreign policy relations. I think Trump was feeling pressure from Comey and MSM not to engage with Russia at all. Trump relating that in his mind the collusion fiasco was behind him, and negotiations could resume, wasn't improper.

 

Those questions should never have been ethically ASKED...and if they were they should have been asked by the White House Counsel. Just asking such a question can be viewed as intimidation

I think the question was asked to specifically determine whether Trump could, or should re engage Russia in negotiating terms for coordinated anti-terrorism efforts in Syria. I think Trump reasonably assumes Tillerson may be still under scrutiny, and certainly MSM has been critical of any interaction between Tillerson and Russia. MSM hysteria is causing real foreign policy difficulties.
