Well, looks like the shooter was fine to obtain a CC licence and a few guns. Looks like gun control failed again.

    http://abcnews.go.com/US/gun-scalis...hased-assault-rifle-sources/story?id=48051990

Looks like the only solution available is even looser gun laws so that even more unsuitable people can carry even more dangerous weapons. That will fix things. Imagine how sfae life would be if only some 7yo kid had a dirty nuclear bomb strapped to his chest for self defense.

Fortunately his armed security attachment were able to shoot the bullets out of the sky before hitting Scalise. Thank god for the defensive capabilities of guns or someone could have been hurt.

Wow, is that an extra dumb OP.

What is fortunate is that the shooter was using "an assault rifle" rather than a big game caliber bolt action hunting rifle. A lot of people would have been killed if he had.

PS. The thread title and the OP do not comply with the rules of this board.

It is fortunate Scalise was there. His security detail (provided to him because he's a high ranking official, the majority whip) was the only thing preventing 30 murders instead of a failed attempt and a few wounded. Had Scalise not been there, neither would there have been anyone armed to address the shooter. Congressmen are not allowed to carry a firearm in DC and the regular police were multiple minutes away. I predict loosening of the carry laws in DC for, at least, congressmen and government officials.

Could it be more absurd? We can not trust our members of Congress with a gun - or at least the ubber radical anti-gun Democrats who control DC say so.

That's the weapon of choice of the left.

    Leftist prefer AK-47's and SKS's.

I have heard that those poly mags feed better than the steel mags I have. If I hadn't already re-installed the 10 round box mag for all the FTF's I got with the 30, I'd get one and try it. I maintain that I can fire 32 rounds faster with stripper clips than you can with those 30rd removable mags.

So two individuals with guns stopped a tragic event from becoming much worse.

It would have been more fortunate if the shooter wasn't given a gun

How could this have been avoided? Please be as specific as possible.

Looks like logic failed again. Before the shooting, what grounds would they have to deny him a CC license and firearms? Was he a convicted felon? Was he under suspicion for anything? No? Then how did "gun control" fail?

The only thing we know for certain is that a lot of people are alive right now thanks to police being there with guns. Those guns were used to put this rabid Democratic socialist down.

Really? What then? He'd have driven his van through the dugout squashing as many republicans as possible? Maybe loaded it up with a fertilizer bomb for good measure?

You will not solve violent crime by eliminating guns.

Well that was kinda the point. The fsckn 30 round mag on the SKS is such a pita to swap, and so unreliable to feed, you are better off with stripper clips.

    I agree 100%

Did the criminal have an sks converted to those craptastic 30rnd mags? Sks-m designed for ak mags? Or an original stripper sks?

Dunno. There was one report of a "curved" magazine, so one of those aftermarket conversions, probably.

I hope they throw the book at that SKS! Lock it up forever and throw away the key I say.
