As for before the US, Napoleon tried to destroy Russia and failed. So did Hitler. Yet Russia still exists, and somehow managed to dominate the Eastern half of Europe for several decades.

Germany operates a trade surplus with America. In any trade war with the USA, Germany loses.

In fact Germany operates a trade surplus with everyone as far as I can see. So it won't be doing a lot of sanctioning any time soon. Since trade wars hurt it more than anyone else.

 

Germany is vassal of everybody: EU, USA, Israel etc., but not of UK, because a vassal can not be vassal of another vassal.

 

Rather worry about your border to China, they will come.

 

We're what was classicly known as a "Client Kingdom".

The difference is Germany must ask EU permission to do anything.
While as a client kingdom of the US, we just do what they want us to do without asking.

 

America wants us to stop North Stream 2 but it secures our gas supply from Russia. It makes Germany and Russia less dependent from other contries and the both contries have a reliable partnership in gas and oil matters. Russia or the Soviets always delivered, even in the coldes days of the Cold War and Germany always paid.

Yes America has recently changed their laws to allow gas exports.
They want Germany to buy from them.

Russian supply has been intermittent due to Ukraine and Georgia cutting off supply pipelines with regularity.

Germany is best served by buying whatever is both available and cheapest at any time.
