So these cows are not good for dairy herds apparently? They must make great hamburgers then! What would McDonalds, Wendys, Carls Jr, Burger King, and Black Angus do without them ?! Poor cows !!
The beef industry is actually a by-product of the larger dairy industry. Dairy cows give milk which goes to market as milk, cream, cheese, yogurt, powdered milk, canned milk, and baby formula -- while the steers as a by-product go to market as meat. Dairy cows are breeders and milk producers. Female cattle become dairy cows. The males are superfluous same as Arabs who practice polygamy and send their radicalized youth to dream of 72 virgins from blowing themselves up with suicide vests. Males are always superfluous. Cows are not superfluous they are valuable food producers.
Dairy cows, do better in cooler climates. Though Texas does have a dairy industry, south and west Texas are not the best local for making milk.
Ok that's interesting. I did not know that. I did think that the longhorn cattle were better beef cattle for hot climes like Texas than any other. And these cattle in the video were not longhorns.
As you can see these are desert ranches he is hauling from, marginal land, so you can raise the type of cow that can be raised. Not being a rancher, and no expert, I think that Longhorn cattle, being a bit larger, need fairly good browse, (good grass consistently), to do well.
