This is a wonderful example of why it is futile to engage libertarians and conservatives in economics. Nothing in this post is factual, not one thought or statement. Yet in the mind of this poster, what he thinks is obvious, it is gospel, it is the foundation of his entire world view. There is no reply any of us could make to change this persons mind. So here we have our national conundrum. While the rest of the civilized world moves forward, we are stuck in the harbor with boat anchors stuck firmly to the bedrock. The good news is that our kids don't buy this stuff anymore. They will change America and complete the job we started long ago.
if this is true why are you so afraid to provide your best example? What did you learn from your fear?
France has the per capita income of Arkansas, about our poorest state. Is that your idea of moving forward? The USA invents everything. That enables Europe to struggle along at 65% of our standard of living. Without that they would be at 30%.Is that what you call moving forward?
You are probably correct for the most part. Sort of the implicit flaw in the logic of most of these people who think they are self-sufficient and would be better left alone is that they aren't truly self-sufficient.
yes kids voted for Sanders an open communist. That is good news?? Did you know that Bernie honeymooned in the USSR? Did you know that our liberals spied for Stalin while he was slowly starving 60 million to death?
you mean change to socialism?. Ever heard of Cuba/Florida, Hong Kong/Red China, USA/USSR. Did you know that the instant China switched to Republican capitalism from libsocialism they eliminated 40% of all the poverty on the planet. Do you understand now??
insanity of course!! capitalism forces corporations to offer the best jobs and products possible just to survive. The last thing they need is libNazi govt interference to cause inefficieny and recession/depression.
Speaking of fear.... I'm still waiting for you to provide a link to Freidman or Sowell where they say that the rich donate most of their money to charity, or that they donate most of the money to charity when they die.
I've made my point. If you would like an illustration, Rand Paul surely accepted insurance money in his eye doctoring practice ergo he was dependent on the government regulation of insurance, and presumably the government provision of insurance for his self-sufficiency, and now he is dependent on a gubbermint check.
James, it's aways a pleasure to debunk your posts....But you're now delving deeper and darker into a world entirely of your own creation where you create the rules and facts are whatever comes in your mind and no one could convince you otherwise. I'm done entertaining you, at least for now. -Cheers my friend, I'm literally having a drink in your honor.
you mean China did not instantly eliminate 40% of all the poverty on earth when it switched to Republican capitalism??
you said Friedman and Sowell made no sense and you made more sense. Why so afraid to give us a substantive example? How will you learn if you are afraid to try??
so who is it not futile to engage about economics??? See why we must conclude that liberalism is based in ignorance?
you mean because your arguments are so bad? If they are not bad present your best one. How will you learn if you are afraid to try. Ever see a conservative afraid to engage a liberal? What does that teach you?
I think you have confused me with someone else. I did not say he shouldn't be a libertarian. I was commenting on people who claim to be self-made, self-sufficient, etc, myself included, really are not, well unless they live somewhere where they grow/raise all their own food. I am not being all Obama-esque in the sense that he acted like interdependence made one particularly obligated to others for their success. I am just pointing out we are in this boat together. I tire too of people who should be rowing not rowing, but I acknowledge also that some people cannot row so it is a matter of human decency that we at least help the latter out rather than toss them overboard.
I have no fear, I am simply disinterested in educating you. When I see a fly on the wall, I do not feel compelled to teach it economics, why should I treat you any differently?
If you do not know that Friedman was hugely influential then why are you posting on an economics forum? I would expect a freshman level understanding of the subject from posters that dare to enter. By admitting you do not understand his impact you are illustrating your total ignorance of macro economics and the last 50 years.
