I think you have some problems with geography. Abkhazia, South Ossetia are not part of Russia. Less Manzhou, which is in China

I do not see any contradiction here- SS officers could be among these guys to train them.
This film is glorifying these forest brothers, so it is a different story.

 

The Forest Brothers were fighting against Soviet occupation, they were not fighting for Nazi's but likely using them and anything that will aid their cause in their fight against Russia.

It's convenient for you to now call them Nazi's

Very interesting, they did not fight against Nazis when Germany occupied them, but they fought againts Russian Army when it came to push away German troops. That makes everything clear - they were on the Nazi Germany side and they are criminals.

Not nearly as many, I think Russia needs to start making historical documentaries, many people here in Australia watch SBS high quality documentaries is a regular on this channel. Let me think I've read a book many years ago about a man in Russia that were a bystander in a bar fight, ended up in Siberia begging for other prisoner's blood... can't remember the title. So probably most people only hear about the horror stories.

Enemy at the Gates (movie) but very little documentaries, I'd love to see some... if you can recommend (with english subtitles) I can buy online.

The situation was that Baltic countries were annexed to USSR in 1940. So there was one year of Soviet union presence there and then Nazi Germany occupied the territory. So basically by the end of the war Baltic countries have experienced mostly Nazi crimes (mass murdering of Jews there most known) and not Soviet army deeds.

Hm-m.. Well, you certainly could widen the circle of views of yours. "Enemy at the Gates"? It's a feature film, it's as accurate as "300".

As for documentals - well, we have plenty. As a start I can recommend documentals of "Star Media" - they are not very deep, made mainly for entertainment, and majority of them still have no English version - but as I said, it's a start.


Also, WWII and Great Patriotic War are not the only ones they work on, obviously. Haven't seen that one below - but find it curious. Crimean War is not only war nicknamed "World War Zero" as far as I know, but.. I guess it has its reasons to be a claimant of such title.

 

Generally, there are plenty of documentals - of various views.
About tactics and heroism.

About struggles and tradegies.

About looting even.



This was an event that left a scorched mark on history of the whole planet. A time of questionable decidions, horrors and miracles. It still deeply touches people, and has questions to be asked about it.

We are curious about that period of time, and study it. Sadly, rarely any of our documentals get translated in English.
