Most people posting here are not extremists. Most are just average people who work, pay the bills, and enjoy a little debate, myself included. If you can't be civil, then just go on down the road. Have a nice day!
While I agree with the sentiment, I doubt that your target audience will be compelled to comply. 20 years of online debate has taught me that one either has to grow a thick skin or be frustrated by the abundant ad hominem attacks here on the forums. As I lack the power to change others I focus upon that which I can change and that being myself.
I agree that occasionally the temper will flare. It's human nature. However, you can get your point across a lot better when your audience is not offended by you.
Offending can often be misunderstanding. Text isn't a great conveyor of emotion. My comments for example, often don't read well, because I type like I talk, & on this tablet, can itself be a chore. There are times I make sure to use emojis .... So the folk will know I'm being lighthearted.
hilarious. I agree though. There is a poster who shall remain nameless to whom this thread is directed. The poster made very crude remarks.
Some people join message boards just for that reason. They are angry about things and want to vent about things that are out of their control.
Which ones are the drama queens? The ones who are mean or the ones complaining about the ones who are mean? Both?
Well there is really no point in debate. If you all would just listen to me! These are not normal times. The country is coming apart at the seams.
I agree with you, Steveo. Some people aren't hear for discussion. They're just here to sit in their high chair and make a mess of their spaghetti.
I'm getting tired of all the anti-Semitic stuff going around the board. This isn't that type of board, and it's pissing me off.
I hate you all and myself included, but I always try to keep it civil and think I am quite composed and calm in my posting.
Civiity is way overrated. Get real, this is exactly the type of board the owner wants it to be, and evidently she's plenty OK with Joo hating as long as it's done with civility.
For me, the election of Trump was a betrayal of the highest order. A lifetime of patriotism has been reduced to ashes. I don't know what country this is anymore. It is unrecognizable - well, over 50% so by the electoral count. The right wing really seems to think this is a partisan issue. But its not. Just as every racist felt betrayed when Obama was elected, every person who saw America as I did has been shot in the back. Get angry? I am so far past angry that the idea is laughable. I am watching my country die. I am watching ideologies that not long ago defined our enemies, being accepted as American values. I am watching America fall prey to the darkest impulses of human nature, and embracing them with a sickening fervor. It actually makes me sick to listen to the painfully transparent nonsense coming from the right. It is sickening.
