I would say the greater damage is by people who get their news from late night comedians.

    We Need Fallacy Control Now!.....

    By Michelle Malkin
    October 04, 2017

Enough is enough. It's epidemic. It's dangerous. And the time has come to demand its end.

In the aftermath of the horrific massacre in Las Vegas, America needs fallacy control. Yes, we must declare war on fallaciousness. Now more than ever, the nation is suffering from an outbreak of illogical thinking. In response to senseless violence, clearheaded citizens deserve a safe space from the 24/7 barrage of rhetorical nonsense. Let's break down the collective cognitive breakdown.

    Argumentum ad celebritum.

Empty talking points don't become persuasive arguments when uttered by Hollywood stars. But in the bizarre land of the celebrity cult, late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel has been suddenly anointed "America's conscience" and "voice of reason."

Kimmel railed "intensely" on TV Monday night against politicians doing "nothing" to stop mass gun violence. Sobbing and emotional, he insisted, "there's a lot of things we can do about it." Yet, Kimmel acknowledged that Mandalay Bay gunman Stephen Paddock had passed multiple, mandated background checks and had no criminal history.

Federal studies show that a measly 1 to 3 percent of all guns are purchased at gun shows, but that didn't stop Kimmel from tossing around non sequiturs attacking the "gun show loophole." It's a mythical exemption in federal law for private weapons sales at gun shows or online intended to drum up hysteria about unregulated gun sales. In reality, firearms purchased through federally licensed firearms dealers at gun shops, shows, garage sales or anywhere else are subject to all the usual checks and restrictions. Only a narrow category of same-state transactions between private individuals not engaged in the commercial business of selling firearms (family members or collectors, for example) are unaffected by those regulations.

Argumentum ad populum and argumentum ad hashtag......snip~

We survived two World Wars, multiple conflicts, a war that was the result of a huge divide in our nation...

If America can't survive the slings and arrows of a bunch of comedic doofballs trying to win the late night ratings war...then we don't deserve to continue as a nation.

"Subversives"? Just because Trump and his FanBoys have incredibly thin skins, that doesn't make comedians "subversives". That is the rhetoric of Communist dictators. Are you a communist? You sound like one.

Those wars represent the enemy without. Those can be beaten. These comedian/commentator ARE the enemy within. Years of toxic anti-American propaganda can and should be called out for what it is.

    Subversive.

Political humor has been around for 100s of years. Rush is a liar. Are you a fan?

I don't know anyone who is NOT a liar. What is your point there ? I am a fan of Rush when and where he can help me with my narrative. And that's the truth.

Ok...Communism in the 1950s. We survived that. Doesn't get much more subversive than that and there was a growing movement within our own borders. We survived a movement that was intended to take down what we had at the time.

If a bunch of ratings-grubbing [penis]heads on latenite TV who are just running their mouths for cheap laughs and a paycheck have the power to destroy this nation when commies who actually wanted us destroyed didn't...we really don't deserve to be a nation. If we've become so wussified that we're one snarky comment, one cheap shot, one sentence from a meany-poo-poo head away from shattering as a nation...then we've already fallen into the chasm and there's no hope for us.

This is one of those areas where the solution to the problem is obvious: find someone who is either conservative or non-political to be a late night talk show host. He'll capture 50% of the audience without doing anything else, and with the remainder of the audience (the lefties) split among the others, he'll be the #1 host in a month. Some suggestions: Evan Sayet; Jeff Dunham; Eric Golub; Brad Stine; Bob Nelson. Evan Sayet, Eric Golub, and Brad Stine are reliably conservative, Jeff Dunham and Bob Nelson avoid political humor but are much funnier than the other three.

They're all pale imitations of Johnny Carson, who poked fun at both sides of the aisle. I never for a moment thought Jon Stewart was the least bit funny. The right likes political comedy, too, there just isn't anyone out there right now who is funny. The left only likes political comedy if it's aimed at Republicans. They get very offended when they are lambasted. And I'm not the only one who says so...

"in an interview with Vulture.com, Saturday Night Live Executive Producer Lorne Michaels said he finds the GOP to be quicker to laugh than their partisan counterparts: Republicans are easier for us than Democrats. Democrats tend to take it personally; Republicans think it’s funny."

Do you really think Communists actually tried to take over the U.S. in the 50's? :roflol: Watch out! There's a communist hiding behind the rock!

Seriously though, the Communist scare of the 50's was invented to give certain politicians more power.
