His "dismal" presidency was due more to the obsessive obstructionism from Congress than to him. I was slow to recognize or accept it myself, but I now believe it was primarily latent racism that was responsible rather than legitimate political ideological differences. I am profoundly saddened by that realization.

    We disagree.

I "knew" Obama was a failure when he allowed Congress to table ObamaCare until after their first Summer recess. Of course after that recess he never had both houses of Congress and all new presidents lose momentum over time although Trump was denied any sort of honeymoon & momentum. Obama had momentum and blew it.
Obama could have called Congress into special session to deal with ObamaCare or threaten to do so before their recess as motivation.
Really, that recess is when it occurred to me Obama lacked leadership aptitude.

Then the foreclosure crisis hit California. And the Greatest State of California did more to curtail the illegal activities such as dual tracking than Obama did. Barry could have simply instructed the attorney general to investigate and maybe call for a foreclosure holiday as the investigation proceeds. FDR declared a Bank holiday. No racist Congress needed.

While there are Marijuana clinics in D.C., Obama sends his Federals to Oakland, California for a press worthy bust. Got Hypocrisy. He do.

Improve race relations? Improve the economic situation of poor people?

I do believe when objectively reviewed the Obama presidency will be recognized for the failure it was rather than the color of his skin.

A failure of Leadership aptitude or duplicitous. You tell me.
But, PAH-Leeze don't put it on the door mat of racism.
Similar to Hillary, Obama failed all on his own.
And their supporters similarly blame everyone and anybody but the real perps,
    "Them", Hillary and Obama.

Truly. That Obama spent so much if not all his formative years outside :flagus:, such as some Muslim Indonesian outback, is a lesson I will consider should I experience that with any future Presidential candidate.

    Moi :oldman:
    Voted Obama '08 only.
    Obama lied to me.

Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic,
regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.

Just because he had a PhD doesn't mean he didn't circumvent the Constitution. The hallways of Justice are littered with cases that have been overturned because lawyers were on the wrong side or misinterpreted the Constitution. I wouldn't label Trump a moron but would label him impetuous and arrogant.

Sure doesn't say much for all the "non-morons" who lost to him.

They wanted us to run Donald Trump, we did, they lost.
Now I'm asking them to please run Maxine Waters.

Actually, it doesn't say much for the quality of thought voters give to their act of voting, or for the kind of country they are really helping to form with that vote.

I don't really know enough to vote here, but I voted "other".

Even though I think she's still too young, and I am not confident that she won't become corrupted by the system, I enthusiastically hope Tulsi Gabbard becomes more of a face of the Democrat party.

So far, I'm thinking there's hope. At least Schumer's got no votes.

In case you haven't noticed we still have gridlock in Congress and the only positive things getting done are by executive order. Remember, Trump was a Democrat for quite a while and it's hard to overcome the "moron" gene so prevalent among their party.

    In 2024 she'll be 43. I don't think that's too young.

I think she is very articulate and intelligent. She identifies as a progressive, so it could be hard for me to vote for her even though I like her. I'd have to see who her opponent is and listen to her on the issues. Damn, she's good lookin'! (Couldn't stop myself ...)

Progressive, or not, she's not a loon.

I only first heard of her when she met with Assad. She went about it the right way, and fully breifed the opposing party's State Department on the meeting.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. You're responding to a Democrat. Your post reflects the division stagnating our nation today. The answer isn't more rejection of each other, fighting over every conceivable difference of view. The answer is to find and work together on any and all common ground identifiable. This continuing gridlock and refusal to see each other as Americans first and not eternal contestants must be changed if we are ever to fix this horror.

This is one of the first videos I ever watched of her. Intelligent, articulate, and independent. Hillary was running for president when Tulsi gave this speech.

Did I mention that she's good lookin'?

You sir, are the combative one, by calling the President a moron. Many on here did not like Obama but they did respect the office that he held. Just as McConnell was an obstructionist so is Schumer. I certainly believe Obama and Trump have both been victims of a deadlocked Congress. Obama was not willing to work with the Congress but I believe Trump is. There would be some things I wouldn't like just as there are things the President wants that the Democrats wont like. I think DACA for a wall would be a good start. Healthcare for stripping out any funding for abortions or funding for illegals would be another good trade. Funding for inner city training programs of Americans for the cooperation of Democrats in sanctuary cities with ICE with the handing over of illegal offenders.

No thanks. L Graham is FAR too far to the right to be a leader in the Democratic Party. We'll accept him as a member and fellow voter, but he'll have to vacate his Senate seat first though.

First, I didn't call Trump a moron; Sec of State Tillerson did. I simply agreed with Tillerson's evaluation. I'm not trying to be insulting to Trump (you're right, the office itself deserves a modicum of respect). I'm deeply concerned--genuinely worried--that Trump is simply incapable of being a responsible and viable President due to his lack of mental stability. He's the ONLY President in my lifetime who actually encourages non-nuclear countries around the world to develop nuclear weapons of their own. He constantly attacks our international friends and allies while refusing to ever find any fault with Russia or Putin, no matter what they've done. He's asked for a $30 billion cut for the Department of State while at the same time asking for a $50 billion increase for the Pentagon. This retreat from using an incredibly valuable diplomatic corps to maintain world peace, in favor of more emphasis on the threat of military force, is something only a moron would do. He's the ONLY President in U.S. history to publicly brag about grabbing attractive females not known to him personally by the genitals, because he was rich and famous and that gave him the right to do so. I'm not trying to be mean. Trump's actions every single day prove Tillerson is right. I'm just concerned about the overall impact Trump's Presidency will have on our government, our freedoms, our values as a society, our youth, our leadership in the world, and how history will record our commitment to the ideals expressed in our nation's founding documents by our Founding Fathers. Under Trump they are all at risk.

Would you be so kind as to tell me who exactly you voted for? I understand it's a personal thing to ask of you, but after reading this, I think I have an answer that can help you.

If you'd like to deflect and tell me it's too personal, then I'll confirm my suspicion.

No, Tillerman did not call Trump a moron, the MSM did.

Bill and Hilary Clinton have confessed to having dozens of people assassinated by their absolute refusal to deny it.

The Democrat party and main stream media have played the devils advocate for so long, that they now ARE the devils advocate. As such, I don't see a moderate/conservative/blue dog Democrat being acceptable to them. Even though that is what would be best for the nation. Off hand, I'd nominate former N.M. Governor, Bill Richardson ahead of any of those radicals like Sanders, Warren, Booker or Schumer.

Robert Mendelson. He's fairly unknown and think that will be an asset fot any Democrat due to decades of unending character assassination by Republicans.
