The following is an excellent description of how obama was toxic to democrats:

Basically, obama moved the party too much to the left. America is not a leftist nation. That is something liberals fail to see. Just look at how many elections democrats have lost over the past few years. The proof is in the pudding folks.

Will the dems realize they are in a downward spiral? Will they ever find a candidate that can sell liberalism to Americans? Prolly not.

Democrats do not have a viable candidate on the horizon. At least no one who is able to sell the American people the poppycock that obama sold.

What the Dem Party's leadership will eventually do is present another fake moderate who's actually a cynical leftist with radical antecedents, order their MSM wonks NOT to do any meaningful vetting of him or her and then laugh at the idiots inside their own party when they fall for the ruse. Or in other words, they will present Barack Obama Mark II, mod I. If they find one that's a trifle more intelligent than Barack was at disguising those wide and deep radical ideological roots then the next time around they might even fool the same groups of Independents again that they twice fooled with Obama.

My main point being, however, that no matter how much damage the Dem's leadership have done to their brand -- between Obama's presidency and the dual running of openly socialistic Bernie Sanders and the corrupt to the bone Hillary Clinton -- instead of actually change in any meaningful ways, the leadership will merely go for surface cosmetic public relations fixes, and because the people who vote Left are inherently shallow thinkers and thus super easy to fool. ALL you have to do is tell them that you have changed. No actual proof of change is needed.

Most Dem loses are a result of aggressive gerrymandering which has been extremely effective...look it up as it is clear and blatant.

Joe Manchin is the only reasonably honorable and intelligent Democrat in Washington. But even he voted for Obamacare, an unforgivable sin.

People see the Dems as being: 1) socialist, 2) multi-cultural, 3) politically correct, and 4) anti-military. That's not in the mainstream of American politics.

How can you argue against it? The election of Obama has resulted in a complete Republican takeover of the American government at every level and in every branch.

The Democratic Party has been reduced to petty sniping about Trump. That's all they do.

So, who gets to rework boundaries after each census? The party in control in each state, or the party not in control? If Republicans were in control, how did they get that control? Perhaps the Dems lost because voters in the respective states prefer Republicans, rather than as a result of gerrymandering.

Personally, I would like districts set strictly by geography, with no other consideration given. Democrats have gerrymandered California to the point where few Republicans have a chance to get into office. Some districts have sections that are 100 yards wide and then expand out to capture more favored voting blocks. It's a joke.

I couldn't agree more, Trump is well on his way in carrying out the destruction of the Republican party. We're seeing it in real time....... ;)

If that was the case, then Sanders would have been there taking on Trump instead of HRC. But as it happens, the DP's candidate was at Trump's right. Ergo, what the above says makes no sense.

They sure are in a downward spiral, thought, but clearly it isn't Obama's fault. I would bet that if a poll was taken today, Obama will have more appreciation shown than all of the other contemporary US political figures of his era.

Meaningless for we do not elect by popular vote. And NY and CA do not always choose our presidents.

cause the real reason Trump won (with less votes then Hillary I might add) is because many dems did not think Trump stood a chance and hillary had it in the bag, so did not bother to get out and vote, Ironically had republicans run a real candidate, they woudl of lost

Trump seems to be a watershed for Independents...most of my Republican friends for years have abandoned the Party (me included) but will NEVER go Dem.

Zig zagging back and forth is the norm for this country. When the Democrats take it too far to the left, the voters go with the Republicans. When the Republicans take it too far to the right, they elect Democrats. Most Americans or at least those who decide elections are looking for for a happy medium than anything way to the right or left. If you go back and look at history, it is almost a certainty that the party that holds the White House losses seats in congress, governorships and state legislature seats. Wait until 2018 and you'll see that taking place again. Here's a quick look at congress.

Obama Begun 2009 Senate 59 Dems House 233 Dems, Ends Senate 48 Dems House 186 Dems

Bush II Begun 2001 Senate 50 Rep House 221 Rep, Ends Senate 49 Rep House 198 Rep

Clinton Begun 1993 Senate 57 Dem House 259 Dem, Ends Senate 45 Dem House 211 Dem

Bush I Begun 1989 Senate 45 Rep House 175 Rep, Ends Senate 44 Rep House 167 Rep

Reagan Begun 1981 Senate 53 Rep House 192 Rep, Ends Senate 45 Rep House 177 Rep

Carter Begun 1977 Senate 62 Dem House 292 Dem, Ends Senate 59 Dem House 277 Dem

Ford* Begun 1974 Senate 42 Rep House 192 Rep, ends Senate 37 Rep House 144 Rep

Nixon** Begun 1969 Senate 42 Rep House 192 Rep, Ends Senate 37 Rep House 192

LBJ *** Begun 1963 Senate 67 Dem House 258 Dem, Ends Senate 64 Dem House 248 Dem

JFK**** Begun 1961 Senate 64 Dem House 262 Dem, Ends Senate 67 Dem House 258

Eisenhower Begun 1953 Senate 48 Rep House 221 Rep, Ends Senate 34 Rep House 143

*Ford finished Nixon’s second term entering the White House in August of 1974

**Nixon Jan 1969 thru August 1974

    *** LBJ Nov 1964 thru January 1969

    Obama sucked as president.

He was only there to set us up for change. It was a change that the majority did not understand and he never explained. Many were duped, but were brainwashed so well, they still think he was great. Great for what? Those short sighted gains of his monarchy created long-term issues within the fabric of the nation, simply for his legacy.

    He was only for himself.

It's easy to see the mood swing in the country. The dems and the MSM are not in sync with most people. The dems are losing elections in never before seen numbers and the MSM is at a new low in terms of truthfulness. Yet the dems keep moving further to the left and the MSM keeps making up and slanting stories. What's strange to me is neither the dems or the MSM is willing to make a change. Oh well, let 'em extinct themselves.

There are lots of misnomers about America.

America is meant to be either a country of all religions, of all gods, or simply an agnostic one. It's not meant to be solely a Christian one, although the argument of upholding Judeo-Christian values stays around like a bad fart.

America is not meant to be a nation where European whites make up the majority, not is it meant to uphold a white nationalist government like it did historically prior to 1960.

Here is where liberalism fails, and progressivism sees a open window. America is inherently a progressive nation. We had Thomas Edison, we had Henry Ford, we had Steve Jobs, all these individuals from America who transformed the world it how it works in a progressive fashion. Progressive innovation is in our blood, there's no reason why we.cant have progressive politicians.

You have it right, except that since 2010 dems haven't changed back from their extreme left positions. Dems have been marching in lock-step together as though they have been winning elections since 2010, as evidenced with their votes against fixing or repealing Obamacare. The result is they are at low levels of power not seen since 1929. That's NOT zig-zagging back and forth.

    Steve

Very True. Obama was an Establishment puppet who turned his back on all of his principles.

Trump is no better. The dude who got elected by claiming to be "anti establishment - drain the swamp" is even more of a Puppet than Obama was.
