Trump Administration Officially Apologizes For IRS Tea Party Targeting ​

Agreement specifically blames Lois Lerner by name for failures

The IRS admitted in court Wednesday that it wrongly targeted tea party and other conservative groups for intrusive scrutiny, placing specific blame on former senior executive Lois G. Lerner, and entered into a settlement designed to make sure that kind of political targeting never takes place again.
The filing, made in federal court in Washington, D.C., amounts to a stunning apology from the Trump administration for actions taken under President Barack Obama, when hundreds of tea party and conservative groups were singled out for intrusive screening, forced to wait years for their applications to be approved, and subjected to outrageous questions.

I'm extremely happy for the win, but hate that the tax payer's have to pay for what the Obama administration cabal of criminal's did with no punishment for them. Very sad that the victims of the crime end up paying for the consequences of the crime in the long run while the criminals prosper from book sales and speaking engagement's.
America saw the Obama administration daily violate the First Amendment of our Constitution on TV. Remember Obama promising “Not Even A Smidgen Of Corruption” at the IRS in his 2014 Pre-Superbowl rant.

Just more proof that entire Obama administration was run like a criminal organization, where wrongdoing was routinely swept under the rug. With Congressional members like Conyors, Lewis and Cummings crying racism to hide the crimes.
Unfortunately, we Republicans have to live in a country infested by Progressive Socialist Marxist Democrats. We even have to pay their salaries for their crimes against the Constitution and to it's US citizens. What we need is Lois Lerner and John Koskinen behind bars and/or SEVERELY fined for breaking the law.

Not good enough. I want to know why they told us the lies about the crashed hard drives of no less than six people which is the excuse they used to avoid producing emails, but the emails are stored on servers. This is disappointing.

It would be nice if Lois Lerner and company were investigated again and this time went to prison where they belong. Perhaps then they would turn over Barack and admit that -- through plausible deniability intermediaries -- he essentially ordered them to do what they did. That would be nice.

Obama used these tyrannical practices to stop TEA Party opposition before the 2012 Election. They actually weaponized the IRS against their political opponents and Leftists like many of those that post on these boards not only thought it was alright, but cheered it on. We have exposed how disgusting the ideology is and what it does to people.

 

Yes...., those that were conservatives and persecuted by the likes of the Obama cabal in the IRS namely Lerner and Koskinen need to be indicted for at least obstruction of justice. Especially Koskinen who perjured his testimony in Congressional Committee questioning. It was conservatives and religious groups that were the scapegoats of the Obama Administration.

 

Did you think Obama was going to do it? He apologized for everything except his assault on Americans.

He needs to apologize to the soldiers, and the families of soldiers who died or were crippled while looking for Bergdahl.

He should at least have told the survivors that before they embarrassed themselves at Berdahls trial. So did Obama at least award these survivors purple hearts, like he did Berdahl? I mean they're not eligible for the POW medal Berdahl also received in his WH ceremony. lol

This apology isn't good. It sounds like the IRS will now be neutral in political matters. I was hoping Trump would use it to harass liberal groups.

IRS didn't attributed it to mismanagement, not really an apology, that was the Administration's Justice Dept that did the apologizing
