Can anyone name a single legitimate reason why polygamy is illegal?

Because a group of people got together and found a way to control the lives of others, or some aspect thereof for whatever reason, in this particular case a religious intracult conflict over divinely acceptable sexual arrangements. Those who prevailed were most likely those with more money or funding who wormed their way through the “legal” system, or those who were more brutal and willing to engage in “righteous” slaughter.

 

polygamy is practiced by most of the elite in america. older wives are divorced and replaced multiple times by most men who can afford a lawyer.

 

Children need love, stability and affirmation. Don't forget that.

 

I have two wives and a husband (obviously not legally) and I am doing fine.

 

That is not polygamy, unless the wives are staying with the husband and their fellow wives. If not then it is serial monogamy, and if so then it is indeed polygamy, more specifically polygyny.

Republicans would be against polygamy since it is against science. Kids need more and more resources as society and the economy becomes more complicated not less as they would get in a polygamous family.

Liberals will always forget what children need. Feminism, for example, was about independence for women, not about love or children. Liberals are barely human. The human race would not exist were it not for a culture with a single minded devotion to children who through much of human history did not survive without a total commitment to sustaining their lives.

You are still not showing how poly fails to give children what they need. Of course you are probably only using the FLDS out west as your reference to poly, which is only a small subset of all who practice poly. I do agree that that particular sect/cult is abusive to their children, but that stems more from their religious teaching than from practicing poly.

 

Forgive me, but I hate anecdotes like this because we are only getting one side of the story, and an obviously biased one. Both the other party and the judge should be heard before we conclude that anyone got screwed. Maybe they did, and maybe they didn't.
