My mom and dad were WW2 era folks and they loved Spam fried in Crisco.

But when they tried to feed it to us kids we almost threw up.

    Bacon-wrapped anything tastes pretty good.

    I like bacon-wrapped scallops.

When I roast a turkey, duck, or goose, I never stuff it at all.

I prefer it to cook thoroughly and faster, so I leave the interior cavity empty.

    Yup I agree.

For farm-raised they feed them fish meal. That way the catfish don't taste like dirt.

    Same issue with tilapia.

Ever since all my Italian friends told me to avoid Olive Garden I have not gone back there.

Instead I search out real Italian family restaurants with Google.

I only went for those olives. I got the salad. It came with a handful of olives. I don't think I've been in one for twenty years. I heard they don't have those olives anymore, but don't know.

Stuffing a big bird is asking for food poisoning. Stuffing is better baked separately.
Add a cup of pan drippings - tastes better than steamed blood.

I could not find a way to make it taste good. Perhaps if I had fasted for a week - or two ...

Mom always cooked dressing around the bird and another huge pan of dressing on the side. Her dressing and giblet gravy were legendary.

Thanksgiving dinner at my house will come in a box from a local homecookery,

Im going to the ranch. YeeHaw! ;)

Around the bird could work, but you would lose a lot of the drippings.

Seem to remember she cooked the bird first and poured off the drippings before adding the dressing... then browned both to a golden brown. Yum.

Will you be cooking a bird this year?

I was always the sage tester. "Does it have enough? Need more?"

Thats a lotta turkey. The big thing here is deep fryers. Men seem to be drawn to the chance to burn down the neighborhood in the pursuit of food for the table. Most women are glad to have the help.

    I was about to say.But there's problems with deep frying a T'bird.
I think it needs to be thawed completely. That's the traditional recipe
for any store bought bird.let it slowly thaw for 24 hrs. or more in the
frig.Men don't like waiting. They want their EATS Now.
Since I gave up on my relatives decades ago,I will be having
Thanksgiving alone.I kinda prefer it that way.
My Neighbor used to stop over, every year and give me a nice big plate
of Thanksgiving Dinner. But it was too much like cafeteria food.
Like the stuff you'd expect at a Salvation Army Thanksgiving feast.
    How would I know.I don't.
    Just guessin',mina ya.

    12 people = 2 turkeys.

A turkey without gravy is a big 'no thank you' for thanksgiving.
    May work for Arby's though!

I need to try that.I like Arby's.I used to order a plain Arby's
and I'd have wrapped in saran my own slice of cheese smeared
with mustard/mayo.Plus my own drink.I don't trust Fast Food employees
    around food.

fast food helps stimulate immunity from the food poisonings, it is similar to how raw milk and food stimulates immunity from their bacteria.
