Okay...are you wearning clothes from separate cloths right now? Ever had Lobster? I guess you are not Christian.
Phuck churches, doctrines and male dominator god religions; they are nothing but the intruments of authoritarianism.
This is an obvious attempt to derail this thread, into a debate concerning Catholicism versus Protestantism. And I am simply not taking the bait. I will reiterate: No church--not the Catholic Church, and not any Protestant church, either--has the right to establish doctrine. That is for each individual to do, with the help of some textbooks. (Perhaps in a much earlier era, when most people were illiterate, it may have made more sense for the church to establish doctrine. But not nowadays.)
Then why would it not be wholly subjective to simply trust the views of ministers (many of whom have very different views from each other)?
It is rather a sad commentary on any individual who does, but hey, whatever they choose so long as they don't force it on others in any fashion at all including through any governmental or power structure means. If folks need someone else to tell them what to believe, that's on them. That is a rather short and sedentary trip for a spiritual journey in my view.
I see that you have (conveniently) highlighted the part about the Catholic Church, while not doing so as regarding Protestant churches. Moreover, I have noted that many Protestant churches, also, manufacture doctrine--not just the Catholic Church. And I am strongly opposed to this practice, regardless of its source. Are you?
Spirituality is ultimately between each human and God alone. Thus, The Bible is ultimately a personally interpreted text. While its important to share our individual perspectives and interpretations so we can potentially come to new understandings, anyone that would tell you how to interpret The Bible (or any spiritual text) should be assumed to be misleading you.
