NEWS-OBESITY From WashPo: How to protect against fake ‘facts’ Excerpt: Read the rest. It's worth it in this day and age when "political news-facts" are a dime-a-dozen. Tantamount to yet another breach in journalism's precious wall-of-veracity that should be protecting The Truth from sensationalism that excites interest. Every time, every day that we breach that wall, information credibility suffers. And mostly for the sake of Sensationalism Now! in a nation avidly watching TV every day, every minute of the day. Some call it News Obesity ...
The Washington Post presenting an article on how to protect against fake 'facts'? That's like a fox printing a manual on how to guard a hen house.
Can you folks post reasons for your criticism of WAPO? I didn't think they were guilty of reporting things like "Pizzagate" and other garbage that were actually fake news and not simply stuff you don't like
Sigh...here's one example, and there are many more. Russian propaganda effort helped spread ‘fake news’ during election, experts say We discussed it here and in many other threads.
Wait...so the WAPO reported what our intelligence agencies said in a report...and that is "fake news" to you? Apparently fake news is anything you don't want to hear
Exactly. On another thread righties are dismissing the overwhelming proof of climate change by anecdotally pointing out some specific predictions are taking to longer to be realized. They pretend if, for example, predictions on the timing of polar ice cap melting haven't been correct then it's credible to dismiss the entire body of science, and contemporary evidence, that is proving to be accurate.
You neither read the story or the critique of the story in the linked thread. Go back and do that and then make your comment.
We previously discussed it on this forum, and I provided a link for one of the threads. I've no reason to rehash something that was covered fairly well. I understand if you don't want to read it or think about it or anything at all.
It's trash.. Washington Post reporter caught plotting liberal agenda with billionaire George Soros By Brian Flood |
Not much needed, but I meant to agree that "fake " news is anything that you don't want to hear. Absolutely.
WaPo has been caught MANY times using half truths and wild assumptions, but they havent really been caught lying. Its the New York Tabloid thats consistently been caught lying. They were called out for it so many times during the election that they put out an ad saying they would do better. Of course, they didnt follow through on that though.
