    All Things Australia

A thread dedicated to just that, all things Australia.
Language. Culture such as it may be defined, History, Current Events,
and how come they are less than :flagus: :salute:

This thread evolved from ideas in some weather thread as to whether, not weather,
Australian culture is more obedient and trusting of their gov't than a good :flagus:
It was suggested this is a cultural hangover from a well regulated prison colony and colonial origin.
:flagus: being not well regulated as a colony and convict depository and later objected to being regulated.
Also the ratio of early convicts to voluntary colonist.

So here it is, a place to discuss Australia where the threat of thread drift is least likely, as long as you remember to mention Australia in your upload.

Introduce any new topic, of Australia as you chose.
For those down under, we term that
    FREEDOM

    No Canada-1.jpg
Who is the :flagcanada: of down under? KiwiLand or O.Z.Land
Across an immense, unguarded, ethereal border, Canadians, cool and unsympathetic,
regard our America with envious eyes and slowly and surely draw their plans against us.

Bruce was dying. Sheila sat at the bedside. He looked up and said weakly: "I have something I must confess before I die."
"There's no need to, " she replied. "No," he insisted, "I want to die in peace. I must tell you. I've rooted your sister, your best mate, her best mate, and your mother!"
"I know," she replied, " now just rest and let the poison do its work."

I suspect that Australians trust their govt because a) they have yet to have a govt go rogue, and b) don't harbour prepper fantasies of armed revolution.

Maybe because you would not know when the gov't went rogue you are so in  with it.

Witness the natural gas prices in Australia.
Not because there is a shortage, but rather so profiteers can sell it to Japan
and the Japanese consumer pays less that the Aussie for their own natural gas.
Rogue. Follow the money. Who profited?

Sallyally will address all future comments on this issue. She learned me of it.

our governments didn't go rogue, but they did take their eyes off the ball regarding gas exports. This was a learning experience and I'm sure they won't be so easily fleeced next time.

We just have a deep rooted belief that we put the bastards INTO government and we can take them out again.

The baseline Australian belief Aussies hold about the average politician goes something like this

"Some bastards are right bastards but those bastards are real bastards".

Decipher that and you will understand us

There was a very funny story about boundary riders and a taxidermist, which I can't unfortunately remember properly.
