I'd point out that under Alabama law, simply luring a 14yo into his car or into a separate room is a crime.

I think pedophile refers to cases of adults going after prepubescents.

There are several who have stated that they were well aware of Moore's predatory behavior, including at his local mall. They have included police and security attendants.

 

The manager of the mall at the time in question came forward and said he doesn't remember anybody named Roy Moore being banned from the mall.

There is no police report or incident report against Roy Moore being banned from the mall.

 

He made a claim: 12+ women have accused him of sexually molesting them when they were minors. I asked for him to back that one up as it’s flat out false. That is exactly how fake news gets spread.

He DOES qualify as a sexual predator. And, there are plenty who support that with their statements.

And, the reports of the 14yo qualify him as a criminal.

 

So, I assume you agree we should go back to those who have actually made reports and/or have been interviewed.

 

They allege he is a criminal, yes. It doesn’t prove it. If he really did do those things, he should be punished. There are credibility issues from all sides in this scandal. If you can’t see that, then you won’t see that.

 

I don't believe this is a court case. I'm reasonably sure that the statute of limitations has kicked in.

In general, I do not believe we can rely on actual court cases in situations such as this. The required time can be as long as the term in office! And, there is no legal standard for how morally corrupt someone must be before they don't qualify for office. So, who knows what the charges would end up being - plus plea agreements, etc. It doesn't sound satisfactory.

Also, if that 14yo decided to sue, there would be no timely result even if there was enough on which to continue the case - which there may not be, due to time. We have statutes of limitation for just about everything.


Maybe we need some other mechanism, such as immediate but highly constrained investigative powers (that is, not carte blanche to go after the candidate on all fronts). It might be good just to depose under oath those who make claims, so if they lie they pay the price.

NOBODY wants false claims. I'd be interested in finding ways to bolt this stuff down, so at least a liar pays the price.

How stupid are we to believe allegations without evidence? I don't think this man is qualified to be a Senator, but I also do not believe the accusers. There's no way these accusations happened, and they didn't take immediate action. We often hear stories of maybe 5 years or something, not scores of decades.

Between that and tampering with the evidence, we cannot seriously consider their claims.

Lol. Because simple tasks don't have me twisting in the wind for rationale: "They were raped a couple of decades ago, and only NOW came out when this man's running for Public Office." What, they forgot his identity? That seems unlikely as the number of accusers suggest he was known, indeed they said that about the mall: "That he was well known." So, no we can't say they didn't know who it was until now.

I can't say for certain whether they happened or not. But I do doubt the veracity of the testimony due to time constraints and tampering with the evidence.
